Readjust August — Step Challenge and Photo Scavenger Hunt
Late summer usually means some vacation for my family, and this year is no exception; except it is a bit. Not flying anywhere, but will be taking a road trip. Indoor eating at restaurants is off-limits at the moment, so we will be getting a lot of takeout and trying out the kitchen in the house we will rent. Exercise won’t involve the gym, but there will be a lot of bike rides, unicycle practice and walking. In sum, there will be lots of adjustments during Readjust August. :-).
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

The theme this August is a nod to wanderlust and the road (some will note this is a repeat from August last year). My friend @NellyG suggests bridges and overpasses along the way, and water when you get there … or was it the other way around? Well, post your goals below and post your pics throughout the month.

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Not sure if this is the correct way to do this (new to FitBit & the Communities) - guessing I reply each time I post to the introductory message (feel free to correct me cause I didn't see any instructions) AND thanks to those who welcomed me to this Readjust August 2020 - much appreciated.
Readjust August – Day 1 & 2 (Saturday & Sunday)
5,000 steps Monday-Friday: 0/21
7,500 steps Saturday-Sunday: 2/10
3 times each week strength training: 0/12
increase my water intake & focus on healthy meals: 2/31

Rather than dropping my ballot in the mail, I walked to the nearest collection site on Saturday (warm sunny day) and accomplished two goals - voting and getting my steps in this weekend. Spent part of Sunday prepping vegetables so I have everything ready to go for meals. All in all, a good start. Love seeing all the photos and will be sure to take my mobile with me on walks this week.

Day 2:
Had a good weekend. 20K steps on Saturday and 16K on Sunday. We walked our pup around our neighborhood then took him to Starbucks where the husband and I got lattes and the pup got a puppacino (a small cup filled with whipped cream for dogs). He loves going through drive-thrus!

4 August Another wet day, but nothing like yesterday. We got in in the vicinity of 120mm of rain in one day. Lots of flooding and trees down.

In June I somehow twisted my right knee and sprained it. It’s a lot better unless the weather changes suddenly. But yesterday I did something similar to my left knee. Oh boy, getting old is a bummer sometimes!

Thankfully we have pleasant, warm, sunny weather here in Seattle - August is always lovely. Hope everyone who may be in the path of Isaias stays safe. Really am appreciating this Challenge as it keeps my goals in the front of, rather than the back of, my mind. And I know I will be back in two days' time to account - so I'm getting in those steps early in the day.
