Spartan Race anyone?

Hi Everyone

Just curious if we have any Spartan Racers out there 🙂  I am doing my first one in 15 days...excited and nervous -- Looking forward to the new challenge!

I welcome any beginner tips for race day....I am doing level 1 Spartan Sprint -- My regular gym routine should have me up to the task, if not its lots of burpees for me which I can handle lol

I did my first Spartan Race in June this year. I also go to the gym approx 4 times a week and I run at home and workout as well on my off gym days! Cardio is a must for this Race. Where I did it they had us run up the Ski Hill 3 times! Other then that its a lot of upper body strength.. I had troubles getting over the many walls there were in this race as I wasn't tall enough and didn't have enough strength to hoist myself up over the walls with just my arms.. but don't worry there are lots of people that have the same troubles and I found there were lots of people who would stop and give you a little boost to get over the walls... besides the walls there were monkey bars, a rope climb, and lots of obstacles where you lift, carry and pulls things! All in all its an awesome experience and you will love it! ooh and if you have a pair of workout gloves definitely wear those for grip and incase you have to do berpees.. it makes it much easier on your hands on the rough ground!!
Good Luck!!!!

Did you wear your Fitbit during the Race?  I am doing my first one in November and was going to wear my surge but the reviews for it getting wet have been mixed.

Hi there
I wore my then Fitbit flex for my Spartan. It survived! I would check the terrain and course to see how much water you will be going through. They will most likely be plenty of mud ponds (eeww) you will go through. My course included a swim across a lake which I thought would destroy my flex. But it did survive. I did need to let it sit the next day before I could re-charge it, think the battery just needed to recover like I did

Good luck!!!

I did wear my fitbit in the Spartan Beast I just completed.  I wrapped some plastic wrap around the mail part of it then wrapped it in black athletic tape.  Came through like a champ.  No problem.  Of course, wrapped like that it can't monitor my heart rate so any calories were off but it tracked my steps.  48,024 for me on that day.  Glad I wore it.
