Zumba!

I have an older set of the Zumba DVDs so It isn't the ones that come with the rizer (their spelling, not mine lol). My favorite DVD in the set is the 20 minute ab workout but it does a lot for legs too! Anyone else enjoy some Zumba?

I've been a little shy in trying Zumba classes (just moved to a new city and don't know anyone), but I have also heard good things about Zumba and want to try it! Would you recommend the DVDs for someone who hasn't done Zumba before? Do you think it's as fun as the classes might be?

I have only tried the set that I have, I have never tried a class but I think the DVDs were a good choice for me because I can also be pretty shy. I like the ab DVD because it's short and easy movements. I think the DVD is called Zumba flat abs. The other DVDs in the set can be a bit more complicated. I heard that the newest set that they sell with the rizer is actually easier as far as how complicated it gets. I haven't seen the workouts though.

I must encourage you to try a Zumba class!  The DVD's are ok... but pale in comparison to a Zumba class with a great instructor and an energetic class.  I nervously walked into my first class 5 years ago and shyly hung out on the back row.  It took a few classes for me to feel I was beginning to catch on.  The instructor told me it didn't matter if I did everything right, it's about moving and enjoying the music because it still burns calories.  I've met so many friends through this type of group fitness.  I began teaching it a few years ago and love to see new folks come and discover how much fun it is...and marvel at the awesome results they get from it.

Live Zumba classes are unbeatable IMO.  I have a couple DVDs, but much prefer a live class (of course the instructor plays a big role in how well the class goes) What I love about the live classes I have taken, everyone is made to feel welcome, no matter the age, size, etc.  If this weather ever gets better I'll be hitting the live classes again.  The energy of a live class is so motivating!

Love Zumba! Sometimes I use the Xbox Kinect Zumba game, but normally I go to the classes. It makes me feel crazy uncordinated but I work up an amazing sweat and the people there always help to get my energy level up.

I have a love/hate relationship with Zumba. I don't own the video, so I've only ever done a couple classes at the University where I work. I feel like I get a good cardio workout and the classes/dances are fun, but...I'm not too coordinated so I'm always out of step and I always seem to be exerting a lot more effort (complete with red face) than the 20 year olds around me. I'm pretty sure the students think I'm having a heart attack when I do these classes, LOL.

I love Zumba! I go to 2-3 live classes/week. I usally get about 5.5K steps in each 1 hour class and burn about 550-575 calories.

I was also shy about trying Zumba but, i do it now in a 60 min class at the Y.  My instructor is amazing and I just do the best I can.  I do better in a class then DVD at home. The thing I want to know is how to accurately figure out the calorie burn for the 60 mins?

I normally log around 6500 steps in a normal Zumba class. Sometimes it's a little higher intensity so I do a little more than that even. Love all the extra steps I get in on Zumba days!

I totally agree. The live classes are so motivating and fun, I do not even think about how many steps or calories at the time. we have a great teacher and everyone is made to feel welcome.
