walking in water - lazy river

Our community center has a lazy river that is about 3 1/2 ft deep.  You can walk with or against the current.   I know how many laps a mile is in it but wondering if anyone knows what this would be equivalent to when logging an activity.  It burns more calories than regular walking but I am not swimming either.  Not sure how to track this.

Could you use a Heart Rate Monitor to help measure the effort? Would there need to be a factor to consider based on the water temperature? Sorry, I wish I knew. Good Luck.

I am guessing you don't have a heart rate monitor? Maybe log it as water jogging (I think that is in the database). If not, look up water jogging or treading water for your stats (gender, weight) and create a custom activity--then you can also possibly log the distance. In the summer, I go to a shallow water, current exercise class where we do various exercises with and against the current--jogging, walking lunges, skater jumps, etc. I use my HRM for the calorie burn and it seemed similar to water jogging/aqua jogging. Or maybe aqua aerobics. Also, It might give you credit for steps if you log a distance, I am not sure.
