Not a breakfast person

I’m not a morning eater, but I know that it is important to get my metabolism going!  I eat granola & yogurt a lot!  I need more options for quick yet pretty healthy breakfast foods?!

The metabolism part was supposed to have different wording😬🤣 I’ve been told by MANY people that skipping breakfast is the worst thing to do when trying to loose weight🧐

@Dominique I’m the type of person I don’t like to do anything on a “empty” stomach and there are plenty of times where I’m able to fit in a 15-30 min walk before lunch time and not eating before that makes me feel like eating more than I should at lunch.

@astralman I haven’t thought about eating half a portion; I’m definitely going to try that!!😊

@AmySterling All those sound really good!! I tried the yogurt bars one time I did not like them; they had to much of a artificial flavor🤢 I stick to CLIF and Kind bars. Yes I’m a senior in high school (I’m homeschooled so instead of Study Hall I take a break and walk or something to get my heart rate up for a few minutes😊😂) Unfortunately on many charts my weight for my age puts me at obese☹️ I’m looking at a career in Law Enforcement which is one reason why I started this topic is so I can start building healthy eating habits now😊

@JimmyLai A lot of times I exercise between breakfast and lunch, I don’t like doing that on a “empty” stomach. Thanks for your suggestions!

If it's not for you, don't force it. Do a couple jumping jacks to get you going and save the calories for later. I have failed so many times by forcing breakfast. I am actually succeeding this time and I'm amazed.  I looked into the intermittent fasting and omad (one meal a day) stuff, and it is so close to my normal habits (as far as timing, not what I was eating) that it has been really easy to adapt and change my eating. Now I do 2 meals a day lunch and dinner and typically a snack at night - if I want it.

The breakfast myth is a lie. It really isn't the most important meal of the day. Breakfast is not an obligation. Listen to your body.

If you're not hungry, don't eat!

I have two kids - one eats most of his calories at breakfast, typically skips the morning snack, barely eats lunch (has plenty of time - Montessori school with a calm environment where they get 45 minutes for lunch before a 1-hour recess), skips the afternoon snack, and then eats a light or moderate dinner, depending on how hungry he is. The other barely eats breakfast, eats a little at the morning snack, a light to moderate lunch, eats heavier at the afternoon snack, and eats a moderate to heavy dinner, depending on her hunger.

Both are completely normal. Both have access to food at regular meals and snacks, so there's no "I have to eat now or I won't have food again for over 4 hours".

If you're not hungry in the morning, try packing easy-to-snack items (handful of nuts and some fruit, tuna pouches and crackers, PB&J sandwich, etc.) and just eating when you actually get hungry. See if that works well for you (no hangry moments, no "STARVING MUST EAT NOW" moments when you approach lunch or dinner), and then continue to experiment.
