I have kidney stones and found that spinach is high in oxalate which contribute to kidney stones. I love spinach--- I alternate with kale which is is low in oxalate. I havent tried many other greens. Do u have any suggestions?
Best AnswerYes, you do need to switch up the greens. Try Collard Greens, Dandilion greens, etc. I also use English cucumbers and celery.
Best AnswerI do something similar. I use greek yogurt (1/2 cup) and mango juice (1 cup) and I blend that till really smooth. I add frozen mango chucks. I like to have this as dessert. I usually have Naked or Odwalla juices and frozen fruit. So easy and yummy, even my picky hubby loves it.
Best AnswerI have tried tons of different green smoothies that tasted very good and were packed with fruits and veggies, but after awhile, I got a little sick of the "grassy", "leafy" taste of the spinach and carrots, etc. I thought about a smoothie that would be absolutely tasty and almost like a ice cream shake. This is my absolutely favorite green smoothie on the planet! And it's only 287 Calories. I use it as a snack or a meal replacement.
Reese's Green Smoothie
2 c. Spinach
1 Banana (Preferably Medium or Large)
1 T. Peanut Butter (Jiffy and Natural Peanut Butter are not as different as people think.)
1 T. Flaxseeds (Optional)
1 T. Hershey's Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Ice
Water to get the ingredients blending
I always like to blend the Flaxseeds, Peanut Butter, and Hershey's Cocoa Powder with water first to get the seeds ground up, and the cocoa powder dissolved. Then I add the spinach and the banana. Lastly, I add the ice. It's better to do this in segments, because that way everything blends perfectly. It is literally the most amazing smoothie and it is so good for you. Good way to get your greens in if you don't really like to eat them. The smoothie color is such a pretty green, but you cannot taste the spinach at all! Just peanut buttery chocolateness. ![]()
Hi, my smoothie when I do one usually consists of:
1 frozen banana
1 c frozen mixed fruit
1 tbsp ground flax
1 scoop of whey protein powder
3/4 c milk
Blend all ingredients in your mixer.
You may add some greens for added nutrition.
Its refreshing and filling enough to get through until I have my lunch ![]()
Best AnswerMy favorite smoothie has spinach, green pepper, carrot, apple, strawberry, banana and almonds. (only use small amount of green pepper as it will drown the taste of the other ingredients.
Best AnswerI use my Nutribullet daily and love experimenting with what I can "throw in"
My basic green smoothie:
2 handfuls leafy greens (spinach, kale, chard, collards)
1/4 ripe avocado
mint leaves, parsley, and/or ginger
1/2 cup or so frozen fruit blend (strawberries, mango, papaya, pineapple, peaches, cherries, blueberries)
Fill to max line with cold water
Blend until smooth
Another favorite:
2 stems kale (remove tough stem)
1 cup spinach
10 mint leaves
1 peeled red beet
1/2 pear
1/4 cup blueberries
5 strawberries
coconut water
ice cubes
*If using as a meal replacement I shake or stir in a scoop of protein powder after blending as I have discovered blending the protein powder adds a lot of air and makes a very foamy smoothie which upsets my stomach.
I use my smoothies as a way to use up odds and ends in my produce drawer. I add any combination of fruits and veggies to the greens.
Best AnswerI love the flavor of the mint, and I have so much of it in my garden. I make mint water and mint sun tea as well.
The parsley is supposed to be good for detoxing and weight loss, and ginger is good for digestion but they have such a strong flavor I have to use them sparingly or they take over!

I'm in heaven
when I mix pineapple cubes, greek yogurt, ice and a couple of leaves of basil! It becomes light green and tastes delicious. You can add some brown sugar.
