@JerriAnn to measure out the caloric content of a smoothie, I still weigh in and measure each ingredient before going to the blender. My food scale was the best purchase I've done towards my weight loss journey.

How do you calculate calories when you make your own reciepe?

Santa brought me a generic magic-bullet blender type of thingy. My plan is to make healthy smoothies so that I can increase my consumption of fruits and veggies. Im looking for some simple, healthy recipes. Id especially like recipes that include vegetables -- been reading about "super green smoothies" but there are a bazillions suggestions. So please post your yummy (or semi-yummy) smoothies recipe. Thx

@culater A warm welcome to the Community! Personally, I would recommend creating a food or a meal so you can put all the calories that you're going to eat exactly as how you did it. Also, by creating a food or a meal, this will be easier for you because you there's a bar in your Dashboard that will make it easier for you to just click on the food that you created instead of looking for it.
Please check this post to know how to create a food and this one to know how to create a meal.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

I llike Veggie protein powder you can get from "AllstarHealth.com" its a little sweet at first but it gets better with adding ingredients. You can get chocolate or vanilla. One scoop of that, 3 large fresh strawberries ( I bought a flat of strawberries when they were sold in the early Fall, Washed, hulled and air dryed then put them on cookie sheets in the freezer in batches. Once frozen placed them in a ziploc bag or vacumn pack if you have it and store up for when they aren't so good from the store fresh or frozen), 1 cup coconut hemp milk unsweetened, 1 cup of baby spinach, 2 to 3 drops of orange oil (doterra), 1 Tbls coconut mana, (you can get that at California Fresh or AllstarHealth.com), a little ice and water for desired consistency, put in your magic bullet and wahla. Good flavorful, healthy, filling breakfast. If you want with the chocolate flavor add some unsweetened cocoa powder and remove the orange oil.

Does the avocado influence the taste or the texture of the smoothie?

I found a good website that has delicious smoothie blends. Once you get past the name and try the recipes you will like them.
My favorite one of theirs:
12oz coconut water
1 cup pineapple
1 orange, banana, apple
1 cup spinach
1 cup kale
1/2 tsp or half inch of jalapeno
1/2 tsp of half inch of ginger
1 tbsp of lemon juice
2 cups of ice
surprisingly the jalapeno tastes great and flavor is a good offset to the sweetness.

It actually does @W247! It's not as sweet as bananas but it does result in thicker, creamier smoothies.
Check these smoothie recipes that use avocado, one of them might be your next favorite.

Thanks for the tip on freezing the greens. My go to green is currently kale but the place I shop sually sells it in a huge bushel (way more than I use in a week) so I mostly end up throwing it away.
