Calibration and Accuracy

Hello,

Quick question. How accurate is the Fitbit? There's a big difference between the Fitbit recordings and the Precore treadmill recordings. The Precore may not be accurate.

@KJeff   Are you asking about distance discrepancies?  If so, this explanation can help.  Treadmills measure distance by belt rotation.  All Fitbits use your walking stride length when you use the Treadmill shortcut.  The distance is steps x stride length = distance.  Your "actual" stride length will be different depending on your speed and treadmill incline.  You will see a bigger discrepancy if you use an interval program that has walking and running.  It is nearly impossible to get equal distances from a Fitbit and a treadmill.  If you run on a treadmill at a constant speed, Fitbit recommends using the Run shortcut with GPS off.

If this doesn't help you, can you ask your question a different way?
