Fitbit Inspire 3 not accurate steps

I apologize if this question has been asked before or if the answer seems obvious—I'm still new to using Fitbits. I've been using the Inspire 3 for a few weeks, mainly to track my steps more accurately than a phone app. However, I'm curious about how precise this step counting really is. On several occasions, I've noticed that while sitting in a car for a few hours, it adds around 15 to 25 steps per hour, even though I haven’t moved at all. It also happens when I’m not even wearing the device! It also seems to count steps faster than I actually walk, almost like I’m getting credit for 2 steps for every real step. Is the device still calibrating, or is it just not that accurate? I'd appreciate any insights!
