Fitbit distance is way off today

Not sure what happened, but my Fitbit is not correctly showing the 'Distance' on the tracker.  The App is working fine.  As you can see, the tracker is only showing 1.23 km for the day while the App is showing the correct distance of 8.09 km.  There is a difference in the steps as the pictures and screen shots were not taken at the same time.

I have rebooted the Inspire 3 twice, rebooted my phone, made sure there were no updates and even disconnected/reconnect the Blue Tooth connection between the Inspire and the App.  At a complete loss why this is happening.  I am just glad the App is still correct (as far as I can tell).

Hi, @TheNeilHaley, welcome, do you seem to have a syncing error? I find that some data transfers need more than one "Sync" - When you sync it's not just a transfer between the app on your phone & the device, data goes to the Fitbit server & then back to you. You may also want to check your stride length settings. From the "Today" screen in the Fitbit app on your phone touch your icon in the top right corner>Fitbit settings>exercise>stride length> If it is set automatically you can check the accuracy by measuring out a stride pattern over a known distance (I took the average of 25 walking steps x 3)

I hope this helps, let us know how you get on by posting here again.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think it is a sync problem as it is only the 'Distance' displayed on the Inspire 3 that is incorrect.  Everything else is fine.  The 'Distance' on the Android App is also correct.  Somehow, the correct distance is going from the Inspire 3 to the App.  My 'Stride Length' is set automatically (as it has always been) and worked fine on Monday, February 3rd.  So what ever happened, started on the Tuesday morning.  I normally, do not have have the GPS mapping function on, but, I will turn in on when I go for my walk tomorrow and see what happens.   Who knows, maybe it will recalibrate it again.  Stranger things have happened.

Very confusing to say the least.

Well went on my walk today with the GPS turned on.  It did show the distance walked on the Inspire 3, but doesn't seem to be updating after that.  Everything else on the Inspire 3 is fine, just the 'Distance' is not correct.   Guess, I will just ignore that on the tracker for now and use the app as the correct distance.

Hi, @TheNeilHaley , thanks for the feedback, for the sake of clarity can you confirm you manually synced your Fitbit app?

Let us know.

Cheers

Well, went out for my walk today and some snow shovelling with the GPS turned off.  Sadly, no change.  The Inspire 3 is still not tracking the distance.  Everything else between the Inspire 3 and the Android App sync fine.  I guess at this point, I will just move on and make sure to use the App to track the Distance and ignore it on the Inspire 3.

Hi, @TheNeilHaley , I've been thinking about your problem and the way our Inspire 3's track distance. Inspire 3 (as you know) does not have a GPS chip but piggy-backs the GPS on your phone which will produce a generally accurate result. If the GPS is not engaged when you start walking any distance will be calculated using the stride length previously mentioned. To get the GPS track & distance your Inspire 3 setting for "Walk" needs to be GPS-" on", Auto start - "on", auto stop - "on" and you need to be carrying your phone with you (you may also need to ensure it has an active GPS) If you rely on the Auto-start feature in Fitbit you will not get GPS.

I hope this is helpful.

Cheers

Thanks, I understand what you are saying.  However, I have had the GPS off for months and never had this issue.  I only used it yesterday for troubleshooting.  When, I do my morning walks, I do start the walking manually and have my phone on me.

This is a strange one.
