Stop notifications to fibit device and have a distraction free workout.....unless you like being uber-connected to your device.

I wish there was a better way.

I had to do a factory reset on my fitbit device, had to log out and uninstall the Fitbit app on my phone. Then I reinstalled the Fitbit app and created a WHOLE NEW ACCOUNT and then connected my freshly reset Fitbit device. Then I VERY CAREFULLY went through every setup setting prompt and avoided :warning: giving the app permission to send any type of notification. It is not very intuitive and it's not very easy and the way they word things make it seem like your device won't work if you don't allow all those notifications to go through. But the app syncs up with the device and ultimately I can use my device to you monitor my heart rate, etc. while working out. And now I don't have to worry about distracting notifications from text messages and random push notifications from all kinds of apps that my phone gets.

If you're already getting notifications, there is NO way to go through the settings; whether it be on the Fitbit app or the deeper Fitbit settings within the phone itself, nor through the settings on the Fitbit device.

Got a new Fitbit and during the initial setup I allowed all notifications for SMS and phone calls to go to my fitbit. Immediately regretted it. When I use my Fitbit I want to focus on my activity not having another device connect me and distract me with notifications I don't want. Read my first paragraph at the very top of this thread and it outlines the ridiculous steps I had to take to fully wipe out notifications so that I can have a distraction free Fitbit workout experience.

I did this on my $1,500 Samsung Ultra Android smartphone. So it's the top of the line Android smartphone and it still was not a smooth road to simply stop notifications going from my phone to the Fitbit device. It's 2025....they know exactly what they're doing when they make these settings. It's intentional so if you want to

Hi, @NoviceDad , have you tried turning on Do Not Disturb mode on your Fitbit during workouts? From the clock face on your Fitbit, scroll up to Do Not Disturb and tap to toggle it on or off.  With DND turned on you should not receive these notifications while you are tracking a workout.  Afterwards, if you want, you can turn notifications back on again.

Hopefully that will solve your issue without any complicated work arounds. Welcome to the Community Forums!
