Yet it tracks steps, and mins of activity. Yet it won’t count it as an exercise even bough it’ll be past 15 mins. Either I have to use the tracker to count a walk Or if I add it it will delete steps.

Exapmle on Wednesday I had exercised twice I did a 17 min walk and an hour walk. Yet didn’t count them. I had more than 16,000 steps. I went to add the hour walk. It then when down to 12,000 steps. Why?

Wver sonce the lastest Fitbit app I have had this issue. What do I do?

Thanks for sharing your inquiry about SmartTrack. You have done a great job checking the number of minutes of your workouts and for confirm that your Fitbit Inspire is still counting steps.

SmartTrack recognizes and records select exercises to ensure you get credit for your most active moments of the day. This feature only recognizes workouts or activities that have continuous, high-movement activity.

Some of the exercises SmartTrack recognizes are:

  • Walking
  • Running
  • Outdoor biking
  • Elliptical

SmartTrack also recognizes two general categories:

  • Sport—This includes high-movement sports like tennis, basketball, soccer, and others. Sports that may not be recognized by SmartTrack include those without continuous movement or that vary in intensity level, like golf.
  • Aerobic workout—This includes aerobic activities with continuous movement, such as Zumba®, cardio-kickboxing, and other dance classes.

In this case, please restart your Fitbit Inspire and change the number of minutes for the auto-recognition to 10 mins. To adjust your exercise recognition settings:

  • FITBIT APP
    1. Tap the Today tab User-added image, then tap the Exercise tile User-added image.
    2. Tap the gear icon User-added image.
    3. Tap an exercise, and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.

I am having the same issue.  Have followed the stated steps repeatedly over a 3-month time frame.  Any other ideas?  Yes, I agree it is VERY frustrating!

Agree! My Inspire was tracking excercise until it just stopped doing so 2 weeks ago. No troubleshooting helps. What a piece of junk!

This did not work for me. It does not recognize my treadmill workout. When I try to manually add it over the same time period it does not delete my steps but just adds more. Very frustrating and ready to return my Inspire

This “solution” does not work. This problem for me persists.
