Has the Fitbit development team looked into adding a reply feature for text messages? I know that for me personally, having preset replies like the apple watch would be very useful. The Ionic is all about being able to leave your phone behind, yet you are unable to reply to text messages. Adding this would definitely persuade me into buying the Ionic. I also think that if this were added, texting should be its own app instead of just appearing in the notification center.

Update says this only works with Android phones. What messaging app are you trying to reply to?

I have an Android phone. I was trying to reply with my normal text messaging on my phone, also Google Hangouts. No luck with a "reply" button.

Just updated. Check the Notifications section of the Fitbit app as you will need to add permission to allow replies to SMS messages.

I have received the updates to Ionic, I see the notifications in the app but I do not see anywhere to enable permissions to reply to SMS messages. Is it hidden somewhere?

I have the update, but also not seeing any reply options on texts or what's app messages
for those that have it working, do you have always connected or the widget enabled? I have both disabled, so wondering if there was any impact from these?

I have an Android, updated all apps, and the my Ionic and I do not see a an option to reply to texts. As mentioned above I also do not see anything that enables SMS messages. As usual for Fitbit when they release a new product or feature they provide little or no support or instructions. While I like the Ionic I am extremely disappointed about Fitbit as a company. This is the last product of theirs I will ever buy, they are a total joke.

@Stu_B I have it working and do not have all-day sync or the widget enabled. When I receive a message I simply tap it on the Ionic and then scroll through the message and see a "Reply" button.

sorry to be the bearer of a bad message, but the notification system which enabled the quick replies was introduced in android 7.0.
you also can't reply directly in your notification, as shown below. right?

I successfully downloaded the firmware update today. However I do not see any options to reply too messages, just clear or archive which is a new option. Have permissions set appropriately. Not sure what's missing? And yes I am using an Android phone.

Here are screenshots which show what I needed to do to set permissions to reply to SMS messages from my tracker. In the FitBit app, go to your Ionic Notifications page. When I did I saw the first screen below. When you click on the red alert, it takes you to a an Enable Notifications Permissions page (second photo). Click on the 3rd option to allow replies to SMS messages from your tracker. You should now be able to reply from your tracker. If you do not see the red alert, go to Apps and Notifications settings on your phone and select FitBit (3rd image). Click on Permissions and turn off SMS (third photo) and then go back to FitBit app. You should now see the first image and follow the above steps to enable replies to SMS messages from your tracker.
