I am having issues on and off with syncing.. I have tried the following on multiple occasions:
Restarting phone
Restarting ionic
Unpairing ionic from Bluetooth
Turning Bluetooth off and back on
Deleting fitbit app and reinstalling
Deleting fitbit ionic account from app and setting it up again
Fully charging ionic
On wifi/cellular data
Checking and unchecking the all day sync option
Checking and unchecking the always awake option
This is my replacement ionic because my first one wouldn't sync, then it died completely. When it does sync it does not give accurate data, this morning it synced very easily but it says I woke up for the day at 3:57am, which I did not get up until 6. My original fitbit was a gift and so I don't know exactly when/where it was purchased. Please let me know if there is something else to try, this is an expensive product and the fact that I'm on my second one and it is basically useless if I cannot sync easily or get accurate data is very frustrating.
Thanks in advance,
Katie

I'm currently on my third and am absolutely glad my Fiance took out 3 years instant replacement. I know this doesn't help but I'm just saying its a very common problem for the device.
Unlink any and all bluetooth devices.
Reconnect the ionic
Connect ionic to a different phone/device then re try on your device
Replace strap (sounds stupid, friends worked after it apparently. I think it was merely a coincidence however)

Thank you, at this point I'll try anything.

Does anybody care to let us know which phone they use to sync their fitbits?

Sorry about that, I thought saying it was an android device would be sufficient. I am using a Galaxy S9.

Yes Android is a start, but there are known issues with some android phones, since each manufacturer can use the hardware that they choose.
The S9 has always been working fine for those that I know that have them and now on the official list, so let's treat this as a temporary hiccup and see my post here.

Oh my god this is almost identical to what I am experiencing with my Galaxy S8!
My original Ionic was a gift, then the battery started to flake and it died completely so I was sent a replacement a couple weeks ago. Now I have syncing issues constantly!
I have tried everything you have as well, even some of the knacks that worked for me in the past with aeroplane mode and all that but nothing. Never had a problem with inaccurate data though, I must say.
I am very interested in a fix, I have had Fitbits for years but I have to say, I always have sync problems no matter what device. I will open a case with them about it, suggest you do to, see what happens next. If it can't be solved I think I will have to move away as it's way too much hassle.

After weeks of frustration with my new Ionic losing it's ability to synch, I think I discovered at least one solution to the problem many users are having: In my experience my Ionic reliably loses its ability to sync when I try to sync it with my android tablet when that tablet has its wifi logged into one of other two wifi systems in my residence that is NOT the wifi zone set up on the Ionic.
When I attrmpt to use another wifi network, not only does the Ionic fail to sync, it's bluetooth connection to the tablet also fails and the tablet cannot even detect the Ionic it's paired to. A couple weeks ago I was traveling out of state and was using a different wifi network on the tablet and Boom! Sync failure!
I simply uninstalled the fitbit app on my tablet, then reinstalled it setting up the Ionic to use the same wifi network as the tablet. The Ionic worked fine and didn't mess up the whole time. Upon arriving back at home, I immediately set up the Ionic's wifi in the fitbit app to match the wifi network in the house for the bedroom/bathroom area, making sure the tablet was set to the same wifi network as the Ionic. As long as my tablet's wifi is logged into the exact same wifi network as the one I set up on the Ionic, the previously daily sync failure problem has not reoccurred. It's been three weeks without a hiccup.
In short, when syncing your ionic to your android device, make sure both devices are configured for the same wifi network before syncing. Turn off the auto-sync feature in the apps Ionic set up menu and sync manually once or twice a day. I have an Aria scale in my bathroom so I manually sync in the morning after weighing myself so the app sleep tracker and the scale data is synced to the fitbit app before I leave the house. I've had no sync errors or other fitbit-based headaches since. I hope that helps. It would be great if fitbit would fix this bug. It really messes up the user's experience with their Ionic, otherwise. Fitbit, I hope you are listening...
