Are Android users having issues syncing?

Since the newest firmware and app update, my Ionic will not sync unless I restart the device or restart my phone. I even attempted to factory reset and that went south. I'm running Android 6.0 on an LG G4 which has been my phone for quite some time. No major issues with Fitbit until the updates.

I do have an iPhone 7 I use for work. I installed the app there and was able to get tracker functional after the failed reset. The device pairs and syncs flawlessly with the iPhone. Unfortunately this isn't the device I want paired with my tracker.

The only way for me to sync with Android is to restart the phone  or restart the tracker. This is unacceptable.

I have some sync errors, but killing the Fitbit app and restarting bluetooth usually clear them up... until next time they occur. Then I have to repeat.

That said, that's pretty usual for my Ionic both pre- and post- update.

Prior to the latest firmware and app updates, I didn't have to do much - except clear the app cache for weather.  I have tried killing the app and restarting BT, even uninstalling/reinstalling the app to no avail.

Currently, the app only knows that I have the Ionic, but doesn't sync.

Sorry to jump in on your discussion, but I was wondering about your comment on the weather app.  I'm having issues with the weather app since the last firmware update.  How do you clear the app cache for just the weather app (within fitbit) - or do you clear the cache for the fitbit app?

Hi - not problem.  I clear the cache for the FitBit app, which means you'll have to log back in to the app.  This was a workaround for not being able to add the city for Weather.  It allows one to add the additional location permission that is needed for weather.

I believe this is needed if you've updated app that's been on your device for a while.  If you installed fresh, you'll get the dialog to enable both location permissions.

I used to have that problem, but I don't anymore since the upgrade (knock on wood!).  If I really want to sync it and for some reason the sync fails, I can always switch to my laptop.

I was having some sync issues, but with the latest firmware update it seems to be a lot more stable with my S8+

I am expecting a newer phone to arrive soon, so hopefully upon receipt of it, my tracker will be more responsive to synching.

This seemed to help.  I had both the Surge and Ionic and removed them both and started semi-fresh.

We'll see how long it lasts.

I agree. Restarting or re-pairing your fitbit/phone is not an actual solution. I wait whole minutes to sync my ionic to my galaxy S8 -- usually I force close the app mid failed sync (if i leave it, it will fail) and then try a few more times... eventually it syncs... sometimes it syncs and then says the last sync time is the previous sync time (anywhere from a minute or two before to full days depending on how often I want to force myself through this garbage).

Huge issues - both before and after latest firmware update.

Alerts not coming through from phone (OnePlus 3T), the AccuWeather app says "Sync the Fitbit to update app" again, and Strava hasn't synced since 30 November. Steps, floors, etc. update sporadically and seemingly unreliably.

Fenix 5 Plus. Previously Ionic and Surge. Google Pixels 3 and 5. Aria. Chromebook. Deezer and Audible.

I'm having the same issues. First thing in the morning all I get is sync errors. I restart the Ionic and try a few more times and it syncs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still have the same issue. I'm using the LG V30 and everything was working just fine until the last update.

Ever since the last update my Ionic wont sync first thing in the morning. Every day I wake up and try syncing. I get "Sync error" I try syncing a bunch of times and then reset the Ionic. Try a few more times and it finally syncs. Is there some setting to check or is it another broken update and I have to wait?

@davidf100010, try opening the phone's Bluetooth settings, select the Fitbit device, tell Bluetooth to forget the Device, close the phone's settings, re-open the Fitbit app and try syncing it. Let is know if that corrects your problem.

I went ahead and told my phone to unpair the Ionic. I restarted everything and so far it seems to sync. It does take a long time to sync compared to normal but it is syncing. Lets see if it runs into any issues after a few days.
