Bought ionic, not compatible with oneplus5

Bought ionic then returned it after discovering it's not compatible with my oneplus5. Requesting engineers to add oneplus5 compatibility to the ionic. If compatible I would definitely buy another one. Thank you.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @EllenWil, hope you're doing great! I'm so sorry to hear you had to return the Fitbit Ionic. As you have mentioned, the OnePlus 5 is currently not on our list of supported devicesThis means that our Android team has not yet tested it for compatibility and added it to the list what means that we don't have a estimated date on when it will be added. If the device supports BLE (AKA Bluetooth 4.0), I'd have recommended giving the setup flow a try to see if you can successfully connect your tracker.

If setup does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a Windows 10/Mac computer with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 running the Fitbit Software. Our Android team is always working to test and add more Android devices to the supported devices list, so keep an eye open for updates!

Your understanding and patience is truly appreciated!

Hi, your earlier post was in December 2017, having almost half of March 2018 gone, please let me know if Fitbit ionic has got compatibility with oneplus 5 or not. It would be ridiculous if Fitbit Android team considered a low priority for such compatibility the investment made by us on fitbit is forcing us to invest in another mobile device which has compatibility. I would rather sell this fitbit off and go for a Samsung or an apple smart watch

@NitinMehta The OnePlus 5 is not yet on the list of supported devices but this does not preclude it from working with the Ionic. The oneplus uses a fairly stock version of Android and you should find that all is ok. I think I’ve read users having success with it.

Hi,
I don't know if the ionic is yet compatible. They have a list of compatible
devices on their website. It is compatible with oneplus3. But that does not
help those of us with oneplus5. I returned the ionic I bought the next day.
Fitbit support said they did not know if or when oneplus5 would be
supported. They said I could sync it on my computer but that is not good
enough. It need to sync with my phone.
Good luck.
Ellen

Thanks for jumping in my friends @NitinMehta! I agree with @SunsetRunner, the developer team is aware of the need to add new devices to the list of compatible devices. There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on the following help article: Synchronization troubleshoot or set up troubleshoot.

However, note that if the tracker gets to sync, we don't guarantee that the functionality will be optimum as we are still testing on this phone model.

I'm very sorry to hear you returned your Fitbit Ionic @EllenWil. I know it's not the same using the computer rather than the phone.

Let us know if you need further assistance!

Hi there since a couple of months I am a proud owner of the fitbit ionic. When I first got it the connection between my oneplus 5 worked perfect since a couple of days it's doing some strange things. Today (16/04) I did a factory reset of my fitbit device because It won't sync anymore.

And now I can't even set up a device anymore on my phone. Really sad about that because I like to use my fitbit device.

I bought an Ionic.  I have a OnePlus 5t.  I had trouble with the setup.  I called Fitbit support and was told the device was not compatible with my phone and that was that, so I returned the Ionic.  Now I'm a little puzzled to see in this thread hints that an Ionic can possibly be made to work with a OnePlus 5.  The tech said it is compatible with a OnePlus One (?!)

Since a couple of weeks (one month and a bit more),
My Ionic syncs properly again with the oneplus5 Without doing anything. Weird bu I am very happy that it works again. 🙂

@LammarErhan Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for sharing the experience you have had with Ionic syncing with OnePlus 5. Glad to hear it is syncing.

There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices if your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat). Synchronization is not guaranteed as Fitbit is still testing on this phone model

@gernt I hope you're doing well! Thanks for sharing the situation you experienced with Ionic. That's unfortunate, sorry to hear you had to return it.

Yes, the OnePlus One is a compatible device. You can check the complete list of compatible devices here

OnePlus 5t user and I've never had issues with syncing. Ionic still works fine with it. Just an FYI.

I still have not been able to sync ionic with oneplus5. I am not sure what
is the issue, but every time I see an error regarding Bluetooth
connectivity not established.

I am using it just like a digital watch 😞

Very interesting.  The tech I talked to didn't say anything about trying to make it work, he said it was flat out incompatible.  Then again, maybe he was worried about being sucked into a tricky experiment.  But it boggles my mind that Fitbit wouldn't test compatibility on phones that might work.  The Ionic isn't all that new.  Were I in their marketing, I'd have a cow.

@NitinMehta Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. If you are running Android 4.4 KitKat as a minimum, it may work. Try these syncing troubleshooting steps.

@gernt I hope you're doing well! Yes, you can try to sync as it may work. It is not guaranteed but some users are able to sync. You can try the troubleshooting steps on the link above. Fitbit is still testing on this device.

Keep me posted!

This not compatible is a load of rubbish ,it's just a android phone ,I could understand it not compatible with a version of Android ,but with specific  phones it's a joke .I have an essential phone and it's not on the list and it works fine with ,and I can tell you any time it doesn't ( usually after a software update) ,it's down to the Fitbit software and not the device ,and when I have these issues I check them on numerous devices ( iPads iPhones android phones ) and the issues are the same on them all.Software updates is one thing Fitbit needs to sort out quick ,the last one bricked my ionic

The Android compatibility list is here: https://www.fitbit.com/content/assets/onezip/images/devices/Fitbit_SupportedDevices_Android.pdf .  What's surprising is what's not on it.  The Samsung Galaxy S9 isn't compatible either?

Some time has passed since I had to return an Ionic, and I tried another Ionic.  I was prepared for some functions not to work.  I was indeed surprised.  Setting it up went smoothly.  It took over 30 minutes, but it did it by itself.  I've survived one firmware update.  I learned you really want to update over wi-fi and not Bluetooth because it's much faster.  I also learned that after the install you may have to put in your PIN by pushing the back button and swiping up on the screen to get the numeric pad.  You have to enter the PIN for the phone app to agree that the update is complete.  I had a PIN because the wallet app on the Ionic actually works (assuming the credit card is compatible.  Chase is, Citi is not - not yet, anyway).  I have yet to find a function that does not work.  And yes, syncing is still a bit iffy at times, but it's less important with an Ionic because most stats are visible on the watch - this only after selecting a clock face that showed the stats of interest.  But I've had other Fitbit/phone combinations, and the sync situation was the same.

This is quite interesting. Thanks for the update! Do you have a oneplus5?
Do you think the Versa would work this way too?

You know, it puzzles me why Fitbit marketing isn't all over support.  Support is telling people their phones are incompatible - period.  At least that was what I was told the first time I tried an Ionic.  I did as directed and returned it.  That isn't helping their sales.

The only Fitbit watches I've had are a Surge and Ionic.  Yes, I'd assume the Versa would be similar, but I have no way of knowing.
