Will the music on Ionic watch play with all bluetooth compatible headphones, including Apple Airpods, or is it only compatible with the Fitbit Flyer headphones?

@Nomad22 @wmchapman Ionic can connect to any Bluetooth compatible music device, such as your Apple Airpods or my V-Moda Crossfade Wireless.

Still pre-release so can't say for certain. Advertising says, "Ionic seamlessly connects to wireless Bluetooth headphones like Fitbit Flyer so you can hear music & audiocoaching on the go."
Sounds like it will be open source rather than proprietary to me. Bluetooth 4+ is required for Airpods and that is the technology in Ionic, Flyer says "Use with Fitbit Ionic or other smartwatches for hands-free music & more" sounds promising, Fingers crossed.

Thank you. That's great news!
Can I get greedy and also ask if it will integrate with Runkeeper or similar apps to log running data after the fact if I run without my phone?

My new Ionic isn't connecting with the Airpods. It can't find them. I can't believe how much time I spent trying to fix those bugs whereas the Apple Watch just sets everything up immediately...

Put your AirPod in his case and push the little button. This in the Fitbit in parameters you will have section : find Bluetooth headphones.
Done. The fact I did it but I have trouble with volume control it doesn’t work !!! I am so disappointed!

It can connect to AirPods but you cannot control the volume in anyway.

Is it possible to change the volume of your music with Fitbit Ionic paired with Airpods?
If not, will this capability be implemented in the future?

It is not currently possible to adjust the volume with your Fitbit Ionic.

Same Thing here. 2 hours yesterday getting it paired, now another hour tonight trying to set up AirPods and pandora. Paid pandora subscription since my iTunes won’t upload...so far I like the design of the watch but talk about buggy! Not ready for release.
tip for AirPod pairing. Leave the earpieces inside the case then press button on back. Should be white slow blinking to be discoverable.

What is the technical issue with the AirPods? I love the Ionic, and AirPod functionality would put it on par with Apple Watch.

Actually there is a known issue. The ionic watch is unable to control the volume for Apple air pods.

Yeah they can connect to the AirPods but you CAN'T adjust the volume. This is problematic on so many levels. IE need to turn them down when walking outside and need to turn them up when at the gym. FITBIT Please FIX ASAP

Just got mine today and it doesnt connect to my headphones which cost me £75..
Also.. the wallet option is pointless as the two banks accessible in the UK are from "god knows" probably my uncle in Nigeria..
And the music option.. how cant we connect to Spotify or other associated engines.. £299 and tbh.. pretty **ahem** well disappointed

Yes, it’s been a known issue from release day and not a word from Fitbit on when it will be addressed.

I have connected my AirPods with Ionic couple days ago. If I connected to iPhone (iOS v10) I was not able to adjust volume on AirPods. Then, I connected AirPods to MacBook Pro and connect back to Ionic. At this point, I am able to control volume on Ionic as well as keep AirPod functionality in place. Once I connect back to iPhone and then back to Ionic, then I can now, only decrease volume but the volume is not high.

Hey Erick,
So I just bought the Air by crazybaby wireless headphones and my Ionic doesn't recognize it when I try to pair it in the bluetooth settings. My Samsung Galaxy Phone recognizes it and pairs just fine but the Ionic doesn't. I'd much rather pair it to my Ionic so I can work out at the gym without having to lug my cell phone around.
Anything I can try?
Thanks!
