I have heard something about the dexcom G5 CGM will be able to communicate with the Fitbit ionic. I don't know much. Will it communicate through an app or directly to the Fitbit. Is it available now or in the future. I don't currently have a Fitbit but I do have a Fitbit but I do have the dexcom. This is one of the deciding factors if it will communicate or not.

I don't know where you heard that, but there is no current connection to Dexcom, nor is there a log on the Fitbit dashboard to store the readings. There was a manual glucose log a couple of years back but it was eliminated due to limited use. Having said that, it doesn't mean Dexcom couldn't develop an app for the Ionic and work with Fitbit to bring back some version of the log.

Fitbit's Sept 2017 press release stated availability for Ionic "as soon as possible in 2018."
Dexcom delivered an Apple Watch app about two years ago, and has iOS and Android apps. So it seems reasonable to believe a Dexcom app for Ionic will be coming soon.
