Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Comahig! Hmmm... let's fix this!

If you enter an incorrect PIN code 10 times, you're prompted to unlock your Fitbit watch with your paired phone.

User-added image

To unlock your watch with your phone:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap or click Device Lock.
  3. Find the option to reset your PIN code.

Note that after you reset your PIN code, you must add your cards to Fitbit Pay as if you were setting it up for the first time.

If the steps above don't work, please turn off everything that is Bluetooth enabled.  Tablets, PC, other phones. Wireless headphones hanging around - power off.  You don't want any stray 'signals' effecting this process.  Then, remove your Ionic from your phone.

  • Go to the phone's Bluetooth settings and remove your Ionic from there
  • Then, open up the Fitbit app on your phone.
  • Select the 'account' icon in top right corner of screen.
  • This shows "your account", which should have your Ionic under 'Devices'.
  • Select "+ set up a device".
  • Replace Ionic. You will need to agree that you are indeed replacing your Ionic on next screen.
  • Continue through all instructions.  You are basically pretending to add a 'new' watch to this app.  Follow all instructions.  You will get a 4-digit code to input during the process (this is not the 'unlock' code).

Give this a go and let me know how it goes!

Had this issue. Followed these instructions. Tried to set up my wallet again. It recognises I have a password "your ionic already has a pin. Please enter the 4 digit pin to verify". I do this, and it says "Error, Error connecting to ionic". I've restarted. Deleted the fitbit a few times and reconnected it. Reconnected to wifi. It just keeps coming up and I can't get my card back on it!

This has taken me a bit of time and is a lot of effort.

Hi MarrFitbit,

I have the same issue with my Ionic 'Unlock with your phone', and tried the instruction below with no result. Someone else suggested uninstalling the app, is this recommended? When I try to use the 1st option, enter the 4 digit code, then message 'Error connecting to Ionic', however the Ionic has only just finished Syncing?

Having a similar issue, I uninstalled the Ionic off my phone, hard resetted it and tried to reinstall it and as it goes the reinstall process to give me the PIN it only shows the Unlock with Your Phone screen

I seemed to have a dodgy WIFI at work and home. Once I used my phone as a
WIFI hot-spot for the watch it worked.

This didn't work for me. When I try to replace the Ionic on my phone I can't see the 4 digit PIN code generated as the Ionic just shows the message "Unlock with your phone".

Hi this doesn't work for me - I removed the Ionic device from the phone and tried to replace the Ionic.

When the 4 digit code is generated - the ionic displays "Unlock with your Phone" so i can't see the code to enter into the phone.
