Fantom Steps Counted Overnight

I've had the Ionic for about one month and on two (2) separate occasions I woke up to find 3,000k+ steps registered on my watch even though it had been just sitting on my nightstand charging. 

 

Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?

I remember seeing a few posts where this was reported and it turned out to be caused by the vibrations from a fan on the nightstand.
