I have looked up every way and done everything to try and update my Ionic with the new firmware...Nothing seems to be working....I've unpair....factory rest...turned phone Bluetooth on and off.......etc....not sure what it is I'm missing or why it won't update. All I keep getting is the X and update fail....any ideas or suggestions?

tried on my android phone...then my windows PC.... THEN my IPad - worked first time using the ipad fitbit app to connect to my wi-fi, then sat the ionic on the router and it updated first time. Since then Ionic Bluetooth connectivity a gamble... never alerts for calls on my android phone, and then does texts etc in bursts.... great watch TERRIBLE android app

When will Fitbit sort out he Bluetooth connectivity on the Ionic, particularly with Android. It switches in and out, sometimes the notifications come, sometimes they don't... immensely frustrating. I have the latest App and firmware. Tried it on IOS, win10 and Android - same flakey connections so it must be the watch.

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same problem and can't get the new firmware to load either by WIFI or Bluetooth. I don't want to unpair and repair, because last time I did that it took over a week and customer support to get my phone or computer to repair with my Ionic.
This is super frustrating.
I have turned blue tooth off and back on. I have turned watch off and back on.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the loss of connection to wifi and no wifi locations shown on the screen. Then I discovered that the ">" in the instructions meant you needed to push each icon in turn and not go directly to the wifi setting. Then my wifi location appeared and I could put the wifi location back in place. After all of that the phone found the Ionic and uploaded the new firmware. I suggest that the instructions say "do this" and then "do that" rather than the shortcut of ">" . Of course this still leaves the question of why the wifi location was lost in the first place.

I just got the Ionic and I have an iPhone X. It will only update over Bluetooth. I have Windows 10 on my computers and I could not get the Aria 2 set up either. Kept getting connection lost. It is not my wifi.

I have given everyone in the family fitbits and usually have been happy. Thus ionic is annoying it will not let me update.

I wouldn't go with an Apple watch, if you want the best fitness assistant tracker, it would have to be either Suunto, Polar, or Garmin.
Apple watch, is a smart watch first, fitness tracker 2nd. And it only works if you have an iPhone. If you don't its not an option.
Whilst the later are cross platform

Join the frustrated! Go with the apple watch next time. Sorry for the negativity but I have no more trys left in me.
Good luck

My thoughts exactly! Especially for the price that we're paying! We shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops just to simply update!
