I have now attempted to update my Fitbit Ionic to OS 2.0 three times and it keeps failing. It loads for about 2 hours and then just stops. I have followed all the instructions and searched Fitbit's "Help Article" for failed Ionic updates. I have only had this Fitbit Ionic for a few months and have had more technical difficulties with it than with any other electronic in this price range. I just reached out to customer service but am considering trying to get a refund on the device. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

I have tried to update several times and it will not load. My Ionic will not track exercise anymore and is turning into a $300 bracelet vs. what I thought I was buying. I keep leaving it at home to update then come home at night to be disappointed once again. If I could get my $ back I’d return it today and get an Apple Watch instead....terrible

I am going to begin a quest to find out what their plans are to correct this situation. They cannot just forget about loyal customers and move on to the next model.

When I contacted Fitbit I was told to find my solution in "Community" .

I did contact them and did a full factory reset on my ionic (got to settings on watch then hit about then do factory reset). I also deleted the app from my iPhone then reloaded everything and the update finally processed. It’s ridiculous to have to do all that but it
worked

I agree with deleting and reinstalling the Fitbit app on the phone but I would not factory reset the Ionic and instead just turn it off and then back on.

I have had similar difficulties with my ionic. I've had it for a few months and it has always reset itself randomly. I contacted Fitbit support multiple times, even sent them videos of it happening. They told me to factory reset it after nothing else worked. I did a factory reset and now I've been trying to update it for 2 days. At least 20 attempts on different WiFi or Bluetooth. I had a Microsoft band for years and it worked 10x better than this Fitbit. Unfortunately they discontinued. Customer support is also no help with Fitbit, I'm extremely disappointed.

Crappola....appears my only option at this point is to factory reset and lose all of my data! I had no problem with my Ionic until I noticed it was 2 hours behind on the time....I rarely use it as a watch, so I did not notice the time was slowly being off. I had never updated my tracker to the OS due to people having problems with the download, but since my time was off, I thought I better do it. Big effing mistake! I have tried everything recommended (except factory reset). Plugged in charging; reinstalled the app; deleted the device from the app and attempted to add back the device; turned Ionic on/off, turned Bluetooth on/off....now since I can’t reinstall the Ionic on the app, appears my only option is to factory reset!
Any other advice before I do that??

Thanks Wally765....pleased to say that after 27 minutes on the phone with Monica, tech support... she walked me through all the steps that I had already completed, which confirmed I have a problem! Nice to know that at least all of the tips identified on this forum were tried by me and it still failed after repeating them with her. Kudos to Fitbit as they have sent me a shipping label for me to return my Ionic! 😎

Well that's great...for you. I've spent over a week with support and they haven't fixrd my problem or offered to send a replacement.

Unimpressive solution; the equivalent to an IT department saying, "Have you tried turning it off then on?" Reeks of a company that has no idea what's really wrong, isn't interested in finding out and is unlikely to actually solve the problem. Having said that, those worried they'll lose their data should note that, having applied similar "solutions"* in the past, I've had no data loss. I hope that's the case this time. I'm midway through yet another reset and re-installation.

What a pathetic solution. Life is not made for uninstalling & reinstalling these devices are now & then
