For over a week now I have been trying to install the latest fitbit OS 3.0 to my ionic, with no luck. I have been reading the different feeds, blogs, and posts on people having the same issue with this. Obviously it is poor effort on Fitbits part to release such a failed solution to customers. Yes I have tried various solutions offered on the various post.
At the stage now where my fitbit ionic is just about destined for the rubbish bin, as having a red X on my screen does nothing for me wearing it, and having my weekly "Fitness Update" show days of nothing is just a waste of my time, effort, and money. This was the first fitbit I've had and I've had it for just under a year.
So far in my life this is the worse supported device I've encountered, and failing a proper response from fitbit to fix this issue, will be the last fitbit device I ever purchase.
Unhappy customer with the frustrating service provided by fitbit.

This is a me-too post: trying to firmware update a new Ionic for a family member
1. Wi-Fi firmware update: fails at 10%
2. Bluetooth firmware update: fails at 100%
3. Re-pair: skip Wi-Fi and go straight to Bluetooth fails at 100%
In all cases the Ionic screen never switches to the (orange?) progress bar screen. It always stalls at a white diamond Fitibit logo with pulsing dots.
Consulted Livechat:
1. Did all the reset device/reset phone recommendations
2. Did the Factory Reset (<- recommended by Livechat) ; got the red cross "Data not cleared. Sync and retry"
So far nothing has worked. Waiting for support to answer emails now. 😤😤😤😤

Have had Fitbit Ionic for less than a week and firmware update fails, wi-fi does not connect and than it directs me too bluetooth, it will download 10% and than fail, called Fitbit and we went through troubleshooting on the issues with no success, Fitbit is send ing a new replacement......if any problems with the new one I will be asking for a refund, I noticed most people are having this issue and wonder why Fitbit does not know that something is wrong with their Firmware update.
Why are they selling something that does not work?

@YojanaFitbit, I'm also having this problem. I tried everything you have mentioned and nothing works. This is a new fitbit ionic. My old one was working fine until it died. The old one won't even turn on. I removed the old one from the app before trying to install the new one. I've also restarted my phone several times. I'm not sure what to do from here. Do I need to open a case? How do I contact fitbit support?

I just received an Ionic for my birthday and guess what the update keeps failing. I have tried all the ways found on the thread and on the internet , and so far I haven't found a solution. I don't think it's our job as software engineers to solve the company's product problem. Till this day the problem still yet to be rectify ?

I solved my issue with my Ionic. It’s dead body is put away and I bought an iWatch series 5. Love it and wish I had gone with an iWatch instead of wasting all that money on my Ionic. When I got my Ionic the price difference to the iWatch was not that substantial. Loved the Ionic when it worked but not worth the hassle with replacements. That was my second Ionic to die. Fourth Fitbit to die.

If I had an iPhone, I would just get an iWatch. 😞

I have tried all these, like many of us here. But the firmware is not upgraded. This is obviously a firmware or system error/problem. Can fitbit look internally rather than asking us to waste time on your troubleshooting steps????
