Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Just got the Ionic as a gift from my wife. I can't use it. It wants me to update to this new firmware but it won't update, either via my phone (android) or laptop (windows).
I thought I was having success after attempting it using bluetooth as the wifi wasn't working but after around 4 hours and looking like it was about 3/4 finished, that failed aswell.
I wrote to the helpdesk but I'm waiting for a reply. Needless to say, very disappointed.

It would be so so so much more convenient to adopt Wear OS, Fitbit updates take hours to download, fail while downloading or just don't install at all, I just want a watch with a nice interface and not so many bugs where it makes it near unusable, there are so many people asking for Wear OS to be adopted, please! You can put a Fitbit skin over it if you want to do that. I got the Ionic as a gift, I was hesitant to get Fitbit before because of the lack of updates and barely any app integration, Wear OS and Apple watch OS have so many more features and it's frustrating, knowing the Ionic cost who got me this watch $300 USD with so little features and rare updates. Please don't just tell me that you'll forward it to whatever team, I just want change for the better, and whoever reads this to really read it and please understand that it is not coming from a place of hate but of frustration.

Hi all. Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for your efforts on updating your Ionic to OS2.2.
For those of you who are still having a hard time updating, please follow the steps detailed below:
If you are still stuck after performing the steps above. I recommend performing a factory reset and attempting steps 2-4 once more.
@reddy27 @alan.rose @Pavlov17 For those of you who may be having trouble syncing after the update, I recommend performing a restart and following the steps detailed in this article.
@Sarabear56 @ricksnee @PhilMale If you are experiencing any crashes when attempting to use your apps (music, exercise), a restart should resolve the issue.
I hope this helps! If not, let me know so I can connect you with our Customer Support team or you can reach out if you have exhausted all these options.

Update to yesterday....
So let’s revue the Ionic’s operation today……. After it seemed to have been working yesterday.
Woke up, checked my phone and synced it….. and after a few minutes it synced and showed everything as normal….. I checked the Bluetooth connection and it still didn’t show as being connected, or even seeing the Ionic.
However, now it has stopped syncing (last sync 4 hours ago as I type) but interestingly, the steps shown on the App agree with the the Ionic. (not many steps as I am sat on my backside trying to sort out the problem)…..
Also, yesterday I had it set up to give me e-mail, facebook etc notifications and that has all stopped. Also I was able to set up the wi-fi yesterday, but have been unable to do that today.
I tried to connect it to my Desktop (windows 10)…. Bluetooth saw it but would not connect to it.
Used the app to connect, via set up….. I get the message that it is found………. But it does not connect….. Switched the Ionic off and switched the bluetooth on the PC off and On…. Now it doesn’t even see it…..
Any other bright ideas….. to me it seems as if the Bluetooth system on the IONIC is not working…….

The Windows 10 app may be a culprit. I couldn't transfer music successfully using it, but was able to do so using the old Fitbit Connect app on a Mac. Fitbit should really consider bringing the Fitbit Connect app back for Windows 10.

Thank you all once more for your quick and candid feedback in regard to Fitbit OS2.2.
@Bryan_frmchi If you no longer see the update available, it is possible that you have already completed it. You should see a Version 32.12.19 under your Ionic settings in the in the app (tap on the Ionic in the upper right-hand corner).
@Honord If you are having trouble syncing after the update, I recommend performing a restart and following the steps detailed in this article.
@JohnMacP If you continue to experience Bluetooth connectivity issues, I recommend performing a restart navigating to your devices Bluetooth settings, toggling on/off, and attempt to connect again.

Under the version it still reads the previous firmware of 27.32.12.19

@Bryan_frmchi the previous firmware was 27.32.10.20 (it's what my Ionic is still running). You do have the latest release. The moderators frequently omit the 27 when referencing versions.

Is the new firmware still being rolled out? I still have the old version 32.10

@sfringer this is what I am running
The new one is different

That's the same version that is in the title of this thread (minus the leading 27). That is the release that is currently be rolled out. What is the newer release that you feel is also being rolled out?

@sfringer I see what you mean now, thanks for clarifying for me.

I have just done a search for Ionic Syncing problems and I am amazed at just how many Community Threads are out there all describing similar problems and it has been going on for so long. If only I had looked at these before buying an Ionic, but having had no real problems with my Charge HR I just wanted to treat myself to the "top of the range" model..... what a joke..... However on the bright side, my Wife's new charge 2 is working without a problem.
As an electronic/avionics engineer for 50 years, I am experienced in fault finding.... It seems to me that there is a hardware problem with the Bluetooth part of the Ionic. I am sure that no amount of firmware upgrades will fix it, FITBIT will just have to replace all of the IONICs when they have fixed it...At the moment all that they are doing is repeating the same sad story of fixes which do not work.....

It's so strange. I never had an issue with syncing with my Ionic. In fact, I have never had an issues except some excessive battery drain which a factory reset solved. I assumed it was just a bad app draining battery.

I wonder if it could be the phone that has the issue? It takes two to tango and the Bluetooth issue could be on the phone side.
I used my Fitbit devices (Blaze and Ionic) on my BlackBerry Priv, BlackBerry KEYone and (now) BlackBerry KEY2 and have never had an issue with accurate and fast syncing.
Perhaps there is a pattern of these Bluetooth weaknesses on certain devices? (i.e. Samsung or iPhone)
