So the original thread was closed with no official word from FB yet if it's safe to update our remaining devices?
Anyone install this within the last day or so successfully?
Curious about both the Ionic and Versa 2 firmwares.

Its a lottery, it always is. The last 3 or 4 firmware updates have all had reports of devices bricking, and Fitbits attitute has not changed any. Most consumers update OK, but some get bricked. Every time.
I was lucky enough to have one bricked device replaced (outside of warranty), but since then I am not taking any chances running the updates. Fitbit are either unable or unwilling to tell their customers what the update actually addresses. Until they change this idiotic policy to allow me to make an informed decision, my attitude is that if my Ionic currently mostly works as intended (Strava app not withstanding), I will stick with what I have rather than updating and risk busting my watch.
If you are outside your warranty coverage (in the US, 12 months plus perhaps 12 more from your credit card) and cant afford to drop another couple of hundred bucks on a similar replacement I would say "if it works, dont fix it".

Is there anyone from FB who can tell us if the update has been fixed?

Hi @SRogersCaptA when there is an update or a fix, Fitbit moderators will post it at the top of the page and pin it.

They list them here, with the useless change log that tells us nothing.

Latest is 27.70.8.0
If you are outside warranty consider the potential pros and cons of running the update. Except Fitbit typically never actually specifically tell us the pros.:(

That's about as useful as the "CAUTION - HOT" label on a styrofoam cup of coffee.
Awesome.
This all seems to be the most brilliant way for Google to trash all its Ionic and Versa users in hopes they'd pick up a Galaxy Watch as a replacement...but instead they're all flocking to Garmin! Can't make this stuff up...

@StarTrekRedShrt Google doesn't own Fitbit, but has tendered an offer. Lots of things have to happen before they are the official owners of the company. You have an issue with Fitbit that we can assist you with? See you just joined.

Yes, I know it still has to happen. Was being tongue in cheek. If anything I hope they'll fix this mess and dump some bad decision makers.
I'm sitting on an out of warranty Ionic like a lot of these folks, and would appreciate these "fixes" the new firmware supposedly offers. It's working perfectly at the moment.
So should I go for it right now? I don't plan to buy another Fitbit if it doesn't come back successfully.

Direct communication with them and a pretty specific answer? That's the best news I've seen in this thread in months!
Please do keep us informed!

I can only assume that the latest update made my Ionic almost useless unless it's plugged in (which is still useless). After I had updated the buttons on my Ionic stopped working, and even after 2 factory resets and deleting every extra app and clock face from the Ionic before the second factory reset, still having the problem. The only exceptions are that the buttons will work for a few minutes after restarting the device/factory resetting, and the buttons seem to work perfectly fine while its plugged in. Got onto a live chat with customer support, but tried to get off of the live chat as quickly as possible once they found out that I was out of warranty. I wasn't even offered any guidance. I explained what problem I was having and that the problem was most likely due to the recent update and the only response I got was that it was "highly unlikely that an update would cause that problem. I very much enjoyed my Ionic up until this point, but the recent problems combined with Fitbit's lack of caring or even mild guidance as just about put me over the edge and I'm seriously considering leaving Fitbit behind for another device with a different company.
