Why am I unable to add a card to my Fitbit Pay wallet?

Is Fitbit Pay not available in the UK yet?

Thanks.

Hi Barry,

thanks for reply, I have to say I use quite often Apple Pay on the phone as it it easier to get the phone out my pocket than wallet and then card out of the wallet etc, yes it is not essential but can be helpful at times and my issue is mainly if you loook at the promo video of Ionic you could pretty much say it’s as good as Apple Watch but the battery like is exceeding Apple by miles and when you get one you realise that it’s actually just slightly improved blaze with few extra bits. Don’t get me wrong I like the look and fact that I can run without massive armband with my phone strapped to my arm and I don’t have to worry about water issue etc. And I hope Fitbit will get more apps available and it will be actuallly good smart watch but at the moment it is missing too many things to be a hit.

I think some of us are missing the point, and the point is the Ionic doesn't live up to its claims. It doesn't matter how big or small the missing feature is, the product has to live up to its claims, period.

When I bought the Ionic it wasn't sold to me as Beta, or work in progress and I bought it in good faith. The pay feature was something I wanted to use and, even if I didn't, it should still have worked!

Saying you're not bothered about a missing feature doesn't mean that's how we all feel, neither does it excuse it.

And to add insult to injury Starling and Danske banks????????

@Marek.P I used to have a Pebble too (I have had lots of smartwatches lol) and FitBit bought Pebble, they have some great developers there.

I think it was released too soon and the banking seems more available in the US, but if the device doesn't meet your needs, the Series 2 apple Watch perhaps would as it is also water proof, but I believe Apple no longer sell it.

The Apple Health I found was not nicely integrated with the other application (they should be one in my opinion) and is not as specialised as FitBit.

@Narcissus I didn't say I wasn't bothered about it, I said I never used it on my other watches.

I don't want to start an online flame war 😄 I'm not defending the lack of a feature.

Everyone is unique and will have their own unique requirements, I believe the Ionic was rushed to market personally.

No conflict intended.

All I am saying is whatever you buy, from Fitbit to Ferrari, it has to meet its claims, all of them.

I was considering getting Apple Watch 3 for a while but as I had Fitbit already and read lots o reviews that said the Fitbit app it’s one of the best for fitness I decided to go for it and my point is it says it does more then it really is at the moment, I’m sure it will get all the features in eventually but at the moment it’s not that great simple as that

Best Answer

That’s exactly my point, it says that it does all the things and then it doesn’t, in future maybe it will or rather most likely it will but that is not exactly what you expect when you spend £300 to find out that at the moment it’s sort of same thing as a £60 tracker just with a colour screen.

Do you have an answer for my last post?

All right; the ionic web page doesn't say "Android pay", it says "makes payments" and shows a user waving his watch at a payment terminal.

My bad; to me android pay, contactless etc. are much the same.  Regardless, I still can't "makes payments" with my Fitbit ionic. There is no disclaimer on the ionic web page warning that to begin with, the "makes payments" feature won't work at all, eventually improving to covering only two obscure banks in the UK.

Again, in the UK, most of us still can't use the "makes payments" feature. I think that is misrepresentation.

@Marek.P Yeah I didn't see all the claims for pay on the website as I just bought the Ionic as a tracker.

If you can live with the limitations of the Apple Health application and the possibility of perhaps having to use more than one application to aggregate your health data, the Apple Watch is a great device.

You can get the Series 2 at Argos I believe, you could buy it online then if it doesn't meet your needs return the device.

Does mean you will be out of pocket though, especially if you are past your return time frame for the Ionic.

I do feel for you guys as it is obviously was one of the deciding factors of going with the Ionic 😞

I’m not that bothered about payments are stilll very limited in UK but there are lots of things that were said it can do but it doesn’t, probably it will in hopefully near future. Like I said Apple Watch big let down is battery life and I found that since I started tracking my sleep this makes big difference to actually know if I sleep enough and I can see that in my training results so Apple 18h battery life is really not for me. I like my ionic but at the moment I would not recommend it to anyone to pay it price when there are some many other alternative in fact I was going to buy Huawei Watch 3 sport but decided to give an ionic try. It’s kind of like Jeremy Clarkson and Richard May take on Alfa Romeo they would buy it and love it but would not reccomend it to a friend. In general I think Fitbit has to put their act together and get all the things they claim it can do put in place sooner rather than later.

It's a joke feel cheated by Fitbit marketing they have zero high street banks lined up in the UK what about all the poor people getting ionic for Christmas gifts

Paying $299 for a smart fitness tracker is paying a lot. Paying £299, is even more. Getting a £299 fitness tracker that can't live up to its claims is disappointing; that's what you expect from £29 Chinese ebay knock-offs. You really don't get much for your Fitbit money. I guess some people will be disappointed.

AW battery life is good enough to track sleep, even with my two year old original AW (AW0).

Most adults need 7-8 hours of sleep. I train hard for 6-12 hours a week, and have a family. Was up at 5am and worked out for 60 minutes on the trainer. Tomorrow the alarm goes off at 5am again and a 90 minute session is on my training calendar. Lucky if I get 7 hours of sleep during the week.

Tracking sleep does **nothing** to help me get more than 7 hours of sleep, and I've done sleep tracking with Fitbit, Apple Watch, and even an app on my iPhone. I'm really tired by 9pm, but still have things to take care of (work or home). Honestly do not understand the attention on sleep tracking, in my entire adult life getting enough sleep is simply basic time management and making compromises.

Respect anyone that believes sleep tracking helps them, but I don't see any practical benefits despite trying this much hyped feature on a bunch of devices and apps.

I have to say I am very disappointed with the new watch. All major banks missing from the  pay app is customer misinformation and a blatant lie from the manufacture.   The fact that there is no list of when banks come on line suggests that this will never change.

Congrats fitbit, you have turned a brand ambassador to a leaving customer, Samsung here I come.

Fair enough calling out lies if they are true, but you need to do more than just say  it, you need to show it and prove it. Otherwise it's just fake news.

Hi all.

Just wanted to thank you all for your interest in adding more UK banks to Fitbit Pay.

Our team is working to have more banks added to the UK and we will be sure to keep you updated as they become available.

I highly recommend checking out our feature suggestion board and adding your preferred bank to the list. This is the best way for our team to gauge interest for new banks to be added.

Just reading the posts and felt I needed  to clarify that Danske Bank is one of the major high street banks in Northern Ireland. Many contributors here are claiming they're an obscure bank. For us in Northern Ireland that equates to Natwest or HSBC- (no branches here).. Foe once NI has something first!!

Best Answer

No one is trying to offend banks here the true is unless you are in NI (I have never been there) not many have heard of those banks and in a way your answer just proves what we’re saying here if you take into consideration the percentage of people leaving in NI in comparasion to rest of UK but that not the point the point is this should be available to all.

Out of interest I have been trying to get a Danske credit card for three weeks. In the UK you can not apply online, you have to have a booked call, this has a lead time of several days and then they are either off sick, you don't get called or they just hang up. The other bank offered, does not provide a credit card and I do not want to use a bank card as I am afforded some protection by the credit consumer act.

So one month on and still no ability to pay with my watch.
