Fitbit ionic affecting wifi connection

I've just received my new fitbit ionic and installed everything using the app. However I've found that this has slowed downloads from my podcast app by about 50 times so it would take hours to dowload a single podcast. I have tried turning my Samsung s6 on and off and found this very occasionally speeds up the download speed but I cannot rely on this solution. Does anyone else have the same issue and/or managed to resolve this issue with the wifi connevtion?

Sadly it is what it is, a very slow process.

@Steveyg you say it slowed down the podcast updste. 

What device is this update going to phone, pc, or the Ionic

The podcast is downloading from my phone which also has the Fitbit app.
I think the issue is something to do with the app and the syncing with the ionic. Tonight when I returned home I didńt have the app open and there were no problems downloading using the phone.
