The only way I can sync my ionic is by removing and re adding the device, which causes me to lose all the data. Kind of pointless. I've tried all the other workarounds described on the forums.
Once synced, the watch will stay synced and update for about a day, then it will lose sync again.
I'm using a OnePlus One with the stock software at Android 6.0.1. I don't own any other devices compatible with the ionic.
Firmware Version is 27.32.10.20
Not sure what I expect here, I'm just adding my input.

I am having the same issue except now that i removed mine it won't let me readd it. I have tried everything I know to try and fix it. it's not my phone because my headphones and my Bose speaker connect just fine. The only thing that won't connect is the fitbit.

Same here. I have asked support for help. They say let the battery run down then sync then charge ut then sync 5 to 10 times a day so they can read the data. That is silly when zi cant sync at all. The Ionic is only syncing randomly when it decides. I have tried android and Apple. So frustrated

Have you tried the Win10 app? I think it might let you sync over a cable.

Welcome to the Community @mater_larum, @Kencarol0588 and @sbrentson! Thanks for the troubleshoot that you've tried. I would like you to make sure you have a compatible device and if you're using Android 6.0+, you will need to turn on location services to set up and sync your tracker. You can learn more details about it by checking this article What should I know about using the Fitbit app on my Android device?
If you're not using Android, please try this syncing steps. If you have another device paired to your account, I would recommend to un-pair it, toggle Bluetooth and sync it again.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for trying to help. I am using a Samsung galaxy S6. It is compatible. I have tried all these fixes and nothing works. Support had me factory reset the Ionic and it still will not pair with the app.

Thanks for getting back @Kencarol0588! I've noticed that you already have a case with our Support team, I would encourage you to keep the communication via email. They will continue assisting you on this matter and they always have a solution for you.
Welcome to the Community @Scott-NJ! It's pretty weird that your Ionic is only syncing when it's on the charging cable. Sometimes, when your watch doesn't sync, it's because it doesn't have enough battery. I would like you to confirm that your Ionic has full battery and that you have a compatible phone.
If you keep having issues, you can try this troubleshoot Why won't my Fitbit device sync?.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am having the same issues...I know that my phone is compatible bc I've been using the same phone and watch since it was purchased in December. Both purchased from Verizon and we were told it was compatible. I've had this issue once before and I had to start over from scratch... This is very frustrating... What else is there to do?

Thanks. And it only syncs when I "INITIALLY" hook it up. When I continue to keep it plugged in, it will not sync again. Is that the same problem you had? I believe the problem is with the FitBit and not the phone
