Help on sync issues and warranty

I have had nothing but problems with my Ionic.  About 3 months in, the screen just went completely black, and couldn't be revived.  After a ton of back and forth with fitbit, they replaced it (although I was without my device for almost as long as I had been able to wear it, and I kept having to follow up).

The replacement has worked "okay," but lately, I continually need to reboot my ionic, delete the app from my phone, disconnect my Ionic from my phone's bluetooth, restart my Ionic, redownload the app to my phone, reconnect my Ionic to my phone's bluetooth, and try to connect.  More often that not, I get the Restart Bluetooth error notifcation and can't get the Ionic to connect to the app on my phone.  When I am able to get that to happen, it lasts for less than 24 hours, and I have to restart the same frustrating process again and again.  I'm so over it.  I can't believe that I spent this much money only to have this many issues.

I want a device that I can use in the water when swimming, and that will also work like a smartwatch with notifications and perhaps the ability to answer calls or send texts.  Has anyone found anything similar to the Ionic that works better, and is worth switching to?  I considered the Versa, but I'm so over Fitbit at this point, I'm afraid to give them more of my money, unless others have successfully switched from the Ionic to Versa and had better luck.  Otherwise, I'm open to other options -- like Garmin, Samsung, etc.

Any advice you have would be appreciated, as I want to throw this piece of garbage out the window more than once a day!

Hello @jeloyo without knowing what type of phone you sync through prohibits is from being able to give specific help.

Removing the ionic from your Fitbit account/app will at best do nothing, but normally adds more problems.

It most likely is only one of the other steps that is fixing the sync issue.

Removing the ionic from the phones Bluetooth often helps and does not remove the tracker from your Fitbit account.

With Android, this month I don't that clearing the Fitbit app's cache seems to be the easiest and quickest fix.

Up to the last update this year I had found syncing so aggravating I rolled the app back to several versions, the latest is giving me an excellent experience, but ocaisionly I need to clear the cache especially if the phone hasn't been restarted recently.

I have a Motorola Moto z2 force edition. I have previously had no sync problems.  I try clearning the cache, and doing other troubleshooting issues first, but then when they don't work, I have followed others' advice in the community and online in removing the device from the account and trying to reconnect it. Basically, I start with the easiest troubleshooting, and when that doesn't work, I proceed to more time-consuming attempts at fixing the issue.  I am able to get it reconnected occassionally, but again, that usually takes like 5 attempts before it occurs, and then it only "lasts" for a few hours before I get the "restart Bluetooth" message again. I "forget" the Bluetooth, turn it off and on, and reconnect, and it still gives me that error.  So frustrating.  At this point, I've resigned myself to the fact that it isn't going to get better, and now I just want advice on what other device to move to. Uggh.

Normally if the tracker is not communicating with the Fitbit app the worst thing a user can do is tell your Fitbit account that you do not want to use the tracker anymore and that is all your doing but removing the tracker from your app/account.

If the tracker is still attached to your account at least the app will know e what tracker to talk to.

Easiest to hardest steps.

Make sure any other device that you sync through, if nearby, had it's Bluetooth turned off

Update the Fitbit app

Turn Bluetooth off/on

Restart phone with Android this needs to be done weekly.

Restart tracker

Clear the app cache

Clear the app data

Remove the Fitbit app and restart phone, then install Fitbit app.

I can think of other steps but the above will also include these.
