Hiking mode not working

Hey!

After I started using hiking mode on my ionic the last month, I have had so many troubles.

First problem is the GPS tracker. After some reading in here I have realised that I just have to accept that the GPS will not work if there is a single tree in the way/rain/clouds/wind. Very disapointed, but ok. Is there any way to still use hiking mode, but use the GPS on my phone?

The second problem is that each time I have used hiking mode, I cant sync until I have removed Ionic from the app, and add it back. Very frustrating. And yes I have tried to only restart the clock/phone and disconnect the bluetooth. Doesnt work.

Now I have noticed the third problem, and this has happen the last three times, but I deleted the other two. It seems like my Ionic is starting a new hike around the same time the one I manually started ends. The time spent is the same, but km/steps/heart rate is complety different! What is going on???

(I have a screenshot, but Im not able to add it here with my phone it seems)

I’m starting to loose my patient with Ionic, and consider to start using my charge 2 again. 😣

Have anyone else had these problems? Any tips on how to fix it?

A warm welcome to the Community @mjrgensen! I appreciate the details you've mentioned. I'll be happy to provide you with some troubleshoot to fix the inconvenience you're having.

In regards to the GPS issue, as you've mentioned the signal might be blocked by some reasons such as if you're underground, near many tall buildings or as a result of atmospheric effects. Since, your Ionic has built-in GPS you won't be able to use your phone's GPS to track your activity.

The syncing issue you're experiencing after tracking hiking is pretty weird because, there shouldn't be any inconvenience with this. I believe there may be other factor causing this problem, please try this syncing procedure if this happens again.

Regarding the third issue you're having, please provide me with a screenshot and I can further investigate. If you can follow this procedure from your computer to attach the screenshot.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi!

The issue with syncing is just getting worse, it's not only when tracking hiking, but almost every time I'm trying to sync. I have tried all the steps, multiple times. When I remove Ionic from the app, restart the clock and then add it back to the app again is working for a couple of days. It seems like my phone can't find the clock, and the bluetoothconnection is falling in and out. I have had the clock since desember, and it wasn't a problem in the beginning. I don't have any trouble with bluetoothconnection with other things, so it seems there is something wrong with the ionic and not the phone.

Here are the screenshots from the hiking that was registrated two times. (I think I was able to attach them)

The first picture is showing both of them, the first one with GPS is the hikingmode I manually started. As you can see its a pretty big diffence in both steps and kilometers. I dont understand how Ionic can just start a new hiking while another is going, and how it can measure the steps and km so differently when its the same hike (just different startingtime).
