Welcome on board @Majd, it's nice to see you around here! Check the following:
Have you tried restarting your Ionic? As you mentioned, since your Ionic can receive app notifications make sure you can receive app notifications on your phone. For example, you can receive WhatsApp notifications on your Fitbit device, but only if you also receive them on your phone. Find the notifications permissions under Settings > Notifications.
1. In the phone itself select "Settings", "Notifications", "WhatsApp/Facebook" then ensure "Allow Notifications" is enabled.
2. In WhatsApp/Facebook select "Settings" and ensure "Show Notifications" is enabled.
As Ionic can receive notifications from other apps on your phone, tap App Notifications and make your choices. If an installed app is missing from the list, sync your device and then check again.
If the notifications are still not coming through, please check the article: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

I've noticed for a while now that I don't get video or voice call notifications form WhatsApp, just regular messages notifications. This is the only thread I've found mentioning this issue, so I'm replying instead of creating a new one.
Basically, all notifications are working fine (calls, text messages, any app I enabled notifications for in Fitbit settings, etc) except for two exceptions: WhatsApp voice calls and WhatsApp video calls. I do get WhatsApp text message notifications, just not for calls.
I noticed these are the only instances because I do get a missing call notification from WhatsApp after the caller hangs up or the app times out and cancels the call due to no answer.
Has anyone else noticed this?
My devices/software:
Fitbit Ionic running fw 27.33.1.30
Fitbit app v2.90 (20213375)
Google Pixel 3 running Android 9 with March 2019 security patch

The issue is not for Whatsapp only but basically for all apps who let receive voice and video calls (I tested personally with Telegram, Line, Duo and Viber).
All you get is a notification of missed call after, of course, you missed the call because the Ionic (or Versa) doesn't vibrate.
My believe is that the way adopted for notification by Fitbit is not matching the voice notifications by Android (maybe also Apple, I have only Android)

I'm curious if this works for anyone? Does anyone get call notifications from whatsapp on their Ionic when a call is incoming? I get a notification, like others have pointed out, when the call is missed, but when the call is incoming, I get nothing.

I don't use Whatsapp so I can't confirm.
However I noticed recently that Telegram calls appear on my Ionic (although with unidentified caller) and this is really great. I'm not sure if it's due to a Fitbit support or something changed in Telegram call notification handling.

I use a Versa and do not get whatsapp calls on it. I do not think I get a miss call notification either for this app. Please vote for adding this feature in the Idea suggestion page.
