How long does a Fitbit normally last you? I've gone through 3 in the last 2 and a half years?

What did your Fitbits die from? In my case it was the battery even though I babied it carefully, charging it only once a week. I figure it started to die after around 200 charges. Most batteries have a limited number of charges and it looks like 200 is the number for my Fitbit.
I occasionally had to get my Swiss army knife out and clean debris off the contacts to help it charge. And I did have to do a reset early in its life to get it working properly again.
But I figure 3.5 years is a decent lifetime.
1 year is definitely too short.

Not sure. First one was the least expensive model. It died within 3 months. Fitbit did send me a refurbished replacement and that died within 4 months. They would have sent me another but it's a pain to keep sending them back and waiting for a new one. So I bought the next model up. That one lasted just beyond the warranty and just quit one day. I did wear it in the shower a lot and you could see some water inside of the face for a few weeks before it died. Then I bought the versa and totally babied it, never wore in in the shower or swimming, cleaned it regularly. And about a week ago it stopped picking up my heartrate and now won't hold a charge. Debating on whether to buy a new one or not. I love it when it works but I know it won't last more than a year. If I am lucky.

The Ionic will last 10 months maybe well maybe longer if you don't use the darn thing! This company is a Joke!

Charge - about 2 months got warranty replacement
Charge - this replacement lasted about 4 months and got another warranty replacement
Charge- About 6 months but no warranty now
Alta - about 10 months (band broke and decided to upgrade)
Charge 2 - about 4 months and got warranty replacement
Charge 2 - going strong for 18 months and counting (but screen is cracked)
Charge 3 - 1 day. Decided to upgrade but it won't sync so returning
So once my current charge 2 breaks (and its days are numbered!) I am done with fitbit but I am obviously addicted to having this "sort" of product. But it will be with a different company. Quality control is definitely not Fitbits strong suit.

I guess I got lucky with the Flex. It was a very basic device, 5 LEDs only so maybe that had something to do with it. I'll see how well the Inspire HR lasts.
About 18 years ago I was working with a couple of guys at a medical device company and they left to start their own company. They developed the Harmony Remote which they sold to Logitech a couple of years later - for a hefty price in the tens of millions of dollars. One of the things that really impressed them about Logitech was their quality assurance department and how it really beefed up the quality of their devices, something they could never do on their own.
Hopefully Google will do the same thing for Fitbit, although that won't help with our current devices.

My Charge HR didn't last over a year because of the strapping issue. The device still works, the only problem was with the bubbling strap and that model couldn't replace straps compared to the new ones
charge 2: I currently am using this right now. It's been two years and still going strong. The device is working well, I didn't have any issue with anything. The battery life didn't diminish at all. It does have some really bad scratches on the screen though. I should have put a screen protector at the beginning lol. But other than that it still works well. I will only upgrade to charge 3 if this one dies on me. Lol

Reading the other responses I guess I've been lucky.
Fitbit One lasted over 3 yrs, upgraded and lived on with someone else. Charge HR 2 is a month shy of its 3rd birthday and about to be replaced. I caught the step tracker freezing and just don't trust it anymore, but the battery life is still fine.

My first Fitbit was a charge HR, it lasted around 2 years before the strap broke around the watch face. I didn't like the charge HR so didn't wear it much so it probably had under a years use.
my second was an ionic that I liked and wore a lot of the time, this lasted 8 months before going dead and not charging. I'm waiting for the warranty replacement that is on its way.
clearly its better if they fail during the warranty period, or not at all.
the ionic had 2 years warranty and I wouldn't have bought it with less given the price, i am expecting that the replacement starts a new 2 year warranty.

@Ricsb65 replacement doesn't start the new warranty. The warranty is only for the original product. You should see replacement more as a "repair" rather than new watch.

I had 2 Ionics, luckily we bought it from Bestbuy, they replaced it then they told me if this new one dies you have to contact Fitbit! Well, I am, and we all are and they suck **ahem** they are not doing **ahem** about this!

Although I love the product, they seem to only last a year. It’s the worst ever. I’ve purchased like 5 of them in last few years. I don’t want to go back to Apple Watch but looking like I have to!!!!

in my case this will be 4 in last 4 years and this will be my last have had no end of problems since I have had them they are just not quality products

Charge 3 - got it Christmas 2018 and the display just quit working. The only possible fix is a restart and that didn't fix the issue. So 15 months. Technically it still works since it updates the app on my phone but it's really not functional for me. They offered a 25% discount on a new one. I would prefer a discount on just the pebble, I don't need another charger and more crappy bands that I toss anyway. I much prefer the after market bands.

As long as until the newest model comes out. I have the FitBit Ionic. Had it since November 2019.
