My ionic is not counting my steps correctly. I went for 8,000 to 17,000 in a few minutes after my walk. Shut it down at night and got up to 21,000 step. This has been going on for a few weeks now. Tried resetting but nothing.

I assume by "resetting" you mean Restart. Try it several times before giving up. If that doesn't work, a Factory Reset is the next thing to try. Swipe left to Settings and then About and then Factory Reset. That will return the tracker to how it was when you first got it.

Just received my Ionic yesterday. Wore it to the gym this morning and spent an hour on the stair stepper. That represents between 10K and 11K steps. My total should now be approximately 13K to 14K steps. The Ionic shows 2,700 steps. There is little to no arm movement while on the stepper. Is that the problem? This watch replaced my Charge 2 which gave extremely accurate step counts.

My Ionic does the same thing. After charging it or just having it off my wrist, I wake up to 10,000 steps. I restarted it and even did the factory reset without any results. It still continues to give me the same problems. Any recs? Thanks.

After resetting it seems to be a bit better now. I usually go to settings and shutdown at night . Also when charging I make sure to shutdown. Hope this works for you.

Took my Ionic off this morning to charge, at 700 steps, a few hours later I put it back on, now registering 20,000 steps. It was sitting on the CPU of a desktop computer with no noticeable vibrations. I was checking because this is not the first time this has happened. Restarting did not seem to change anything.

Hello everybody, thanks for visiting the Fitbit Community.
I'm glad to hear that some of you have resolved the issue with the Fitbit Ionic registering many steps in a short time. @royce06 I would recommend placing your Ionic on a different place to charge. Electrical appliances issuing minimum vibrations near your Fitbit Ionic, can make it to track those vibrations as steps. As a workaround, you can negate the extra steps by following these instructions.
If you have any question, please let us know.

I’m having problems w my Fitbit Ionic overcounting my steps and stairs. I was down All day with a cold and did nothing all day. It said I walked 17,000 steps, 10 stairs and 2500 calories. I did a factory reset and it didn’t work. I called Fitbit for help. And they couldn’t figure it out. So, Fitbit replaced it. But I think the step count and stairs are off on the new one too. It’s a FITBIT BUG that needs fixing.

@Sjl12 Welcome to the Fitbit Community.
I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit Ionic is registering steps, stairs and calories burned while it was not in use. Our team is currently working to investigate this situation and once any update be available it will be communicated as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
Keep on stepping.
