Interval training won’t map on Ionic

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My interval training won’t map in the Fitbit app. I have an ionic and have just started doing interval training but they won’t map. I map it on Strava using my iPhone but would like to leave my phone at home and just use the gps on the ionic. I feel like i’ve wasted money buying a watch with gps if I have to take my phone with me as well to map it. Does anyone have the same problem and have managed to troubleshoot the problem?

Hi, @Melsty, to get a map for your interval training you need to make sure that GPS is turned ON.  For each exercise there is a default setting.  In the case of interval training, the default for GPS is OFF

If you would like a map of your activity you will need to select your Interval Exercise from your Exercise shortcuts, and then click on the little gear icon (top left) there you can set GPS to be "On".

Once you have confirmed that GPS is ON and the timer is set to your preferred interval, then when you are ready to start just tap the screen and press the bottom right button when you see the "Let's go" screen.

At the end, after stopping yur workout and syncing, you should see a map on your app.

I hope this helps.  Please post again if you have any further issues.

Thanks for your reply, I have all the correct settings but it still won’t map. I’m wondering if my Fitbit is faulty.

Welcome to the Community @Melsty! Let me help you out with the interval training mapping. I appreciate that you've confirmed the steps that @Julia_G mentioned.

I would like you to restart your Ionic and then make sure you're doing this procedure to track interval training. Since, your watch has GPS built-in you don't need your phone to track the map.

If you keep having any issue, please provide me with an image of what you're getting when you track this activity without your phone.

Keep me posted!

@SilviaFitbit This is the image of the interval training I did recently. I tried restarting it yesterday and used interval training this morning whilst just walking along to see if it would map but it didn’t. It seems to take a really long time (can be 5 minutes) to connect to GPS and then drops out again after a short time and won’t reconnect. Does it sound faulty? I have had it since March but this is the first time I have tried interval training.

Hi.  Mine does not map either.  Did you get it sorted?  I also have a ticket open with Fitbit as my interval paces are not showing.  Does this work with you when viewing by dashboard on the web connection?  Martin

Welcome to the Community @westinbayshore! Thanks for confirming that you have an open ticket with Customer Support. If you haven't tried, please log out and back in and you can try force quitting the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi.  Thanks for the post.

I have logged out and back in on the Iphone app and also the website on my PC.  Still didn't alter anything and still shows Nan'Nan

I do not know what you mean by 'force quitting'.

Hi. Further to my post 24 July can you confirm what you mean by ‘force quitting’. Thanks. Martin.

Thank you for getting back @westinbayshore. I apologize for the delay response. You just need to close the app directly from settings, this will make the force quitting and you can open it again. If you have an Iphone you just need to double click the home button and swipe up on the app card that you wish to shut down.

If this is still happening, provide me with a screenshot of the data that you're getting.

Keep me posted!

Thanks.  Logged out on settings on laptop and no change.

Interval workout detail does not show on iphone. However I forced quit anyway and still no change on the detail in my account via the web.

Here is the screen shot.

Did you get this resolved. I just started using interval exercise function with GPS on and the map does the same thing. Juat spinning circle in center and no map. I have used the running and biking exercise function with no problem, maps always work. Tried logging out and forced close. Still no map.

No and I don't expect to get it sorted tbh.  My gut tells me Fitbit do not prioritise anything like this.  They're probably designing the next watch or whatever.  Does your interval split on dashboard (desktop not app) show NaN'NaN" in the km split?

Yes map is there on dashboard. But no pace data. NaNNan. Wish I had that data also. That data isn’t available on the app either. Just started using the interval function, bummer.

Hi - I am having the same experience as you are. When I use Run or Walk from the Exercise apps the map works fine. When I use “Interval training” with GPS On the area where the map would normally appear just spins just like your screenshot. Did you ever get your issue resolved?

Best Answer

Nope. Use interval gps a lot still but map never works on app iPhone. Does work on pc dashboard. Wish it did. Also wish splits worked on dashboard. The data is garbage for splits. I use the interval for run/walk training.

Hi.

I decided to do a factory reset on my watch and in so doing the NanNan has disappeared.  I assume this is the fix unless Fitbit have done something in the meantime.

No map on the Iphone though with the wheel spinning in the middle.  At least I have my splits.
