Ionic Bluetooth Connectivity Problems

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had a Ioninc that wouldn't record my flights properly. Sent it in to Fitbit and they've replace my device with a new one.  I received my replacement Ionic. I must admit my level of frustration now with this replacement as it is, is worse off than the previous one.

The Bluetooth doesn’t stay connected and is intermittent.  I managed to get the Ionic setup with its initial firmware update and set it up with app. Seems fine....but

Then it wasn’t connecting to my iPhone 6s trying to sync the device. So I removed the device from the app and went to re add it. It gets to where I have to punch in the pairing number and then hangs forever on Connecting to Fitbit. I can force close the app and restart and go through the add device steps and again it hangs after I enter the pairing code.

I eventually did a factory reset on the Ionnic and got it all setup again.  I left it for the night and got up this morning to sync it to see my sleep.

I noticed in the app the heart rate monitor was stopping and going intermittently and it was not syncing and my sleep was not being shown.  Like the connection to the device was working then not and then after a few seconds it would kick in again but never really sync.

I removed the Fit app from my phone and re installed it.  Still nothing, turned Bluetooth off and on again and notihng. So I removed the device to add it again from the App and again I am stuck at CONNECTING TO FITBIT  just hanging there.

I do not want to factory reset this device because if I do it takes 2 hours to get it to download the firmware. On top of that the wifi feature doesn’t work and I have to firmware update through Bluetooth. Same as what I had to do with my old device. This is ridiculous!!!!

I am honestly pissed that I gave my Charge 2 and Flex 2 device up for this $400 piece of crap. I honestly thought Fitbit was better than this.  I am in no way pleased with how this is turning out.

I had no trouble syncing data for the first few weeks. Then the firmware went through an update and the problems started. I contacted the help support team who took me through all the possible trouble shooting actions. The problem persisted after trying everything they could suggest, including a factory reset and reinstalling the app. I have ended up taking the Ionic back to the retailer for a replacement. Hopefully this one will not suffer the same fate as I do like the product.

I still haven’t made any progress with my Fitbit. Updated it to OS 2 and am still encountering connectivity issues. It syncs after connecting and disconnecting Bluetooth.

I have complained to Fitbit support, but they see that it does sync so its not considered a problem.  I’ve practically given up on them.

Contemplating moving to another device and company.

My last resort will be just to send them this one and tell them to use it for a couple weeks and they can see how it works. May e then they’ll realize.

My initial Ionic wouldn’t count stairs but would sync no issues. Exercising I could watch my heart rate in real time while the app runs.

This replacement they doesn’t do that no real time heart rate, just intermittent bull crap.

That sounds very frustrating. I performed all the work arounds suggested by the Fitbit help team. Plus as they were so slow replying I reinstalled the app and put ionic back to factory settings. Managed to get it to sync at first but it soon went back to losing Bluetooth connection after 4 seconds.

In the end I telephoned Fitbit support who gave me the option to try taking back to the retailer for exchange or refund or they could apply their end for authority to refund but this would take a few days.

I took it back and opted for a replacement. Will see how this one works out. If this one fails I will go for a refund.

My original ionic worked fine until the firmware update but I had also only been using it for about 3 weeks anyhow.

Thanks for your feedback. I hope you get a satisfactory result, one way or the other, soon.

I got my Ionic last November and I this just started happening to me last week. It has been so frustrating. I have called support twice and done all of the workarounds to get it to connect. After I do the workaround steps (sometimes a couple of times in a row) I get it to connect to sync for awhile. It does not stay connected. The clock does not even show the correct time when it’s not connected.  You pay $300 for something and you expect it to work.

I am still fighting with Fitbit with this issue. I now have a new phone Android device and it is responding the same as it did with my iPhone.

Fails to hold a connection and sync properly.  Eventually syncs after multiple attempts but takes forever to get it to grab.

Fitbit support is really failing at just resolving this one.

I feel like I am getting the run around.

I purchased mine in January. Was fine til the update I got. Sucked ever since. Fitbit tech said my device was running fine. They calibrated it I think and screwed it up. BS doesnt collect steps properly ..now isnt collecting all from even long walks.  I love the community but syncing has never been harder collecting steps sucks. I also spent 400$ want my Money back. My Garmin was so much better!!

Today I have not been able to get it connected and sync at all. It is 3:29 central time on my iPhone 6 but on the Fitbit the clock says 12:41 central time. So clock does not sync, sleep does not sync, heart rate is funky, does not connect to sync.  This is a $300 piece of junk. I have only had this ionic for 5 months. They should return my money so I can put that towards an Apple Watch.

I have had the EXACT same problems as you. I have done all the same things with the same crappy outcomes ! It’s a great device when it works. Which is not very often . It only worked probably for about a month. I should have returned it then but it was during the holidays and I didn’t .

Same issue here.  Purchased in December 17 and worked flawlessly until last Friday.  Won't sync to either my Android or works iPhone.   Tried all the fixes and still fails to connect via Bluetooth or wifi.  For the money I paid (UK) I expect Fitbit to be working on a permanenter fix but all they are doing is running through the same old temporary fixes which don't address the obvious design flaw with this watch.  What's even funnier is that the watch is now 6 minutes out due to not connecting with the phone so it's even useless as a standard phone.   Pathetic.   Sort this piece of crap out.

It’s a huge bummer for what it cost. Every now and then I can get it to connect- that’s after removing the device and starting all over . But it only lasts for a day maybe . Every other attempt it hangs on the trying to connect mode. So, what do we do now? Try the apple ? Lol

I'm in the same boat with everyone else.  Although the Ionic is paired with my desktop computer and my iPhone, it won't sync with the dashboard.  Then, it wouldn't sync with my iPhone and while the iPhone has found it, it won't connect.  Just too much of a bother.  I will just have to find something else, as long as it is not from FitBit.

What gives?  Mine just stopped syncing after an airlines flight. Can’t detect the device on Bluetooth from multiple phones. Restart and reset do not work.

I now have a $300 bricked ionic.
