Fitbit Update: Fitbit OS2.1 has been released to 100% of users!
Hi all!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1! (Firmware Version: 27.32.10.15)
We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT’S NEW
Introducing quick replies. Send customized responses to text messages and messages from select messaging apps with your Fitbit watch. Note that this feature is currently only available on watches paired to an Android phone. For more information, see How do I respond to messages with my Fitbit watch?
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I think I managed to calibrate my Ionic last night.
I had to do a warm reset by holding the left button and the bottom right hand button together until the Fitbit logo is seen this promted the calibration message, then as @MattFitbit said start it and leave on flat surface, I didn't look at or check it for 10 mins or so then when i looked it had a green check like @MissUrka had seen... success ??
So far so good I haven't had the message appear today not yet anyway.. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Using Samsung S9, Android 8, 32.10.15
Hope this helps.. Good luck think we all need it.

@Yodacoda99have you tried to switch to the stock message app, or are you still on message+?
there's a known bug that prevents some messengers notifications beeing shown on the watch, and message+ is amongst the affected ones.
hope they fix this soon, but for most people using the stock app is a quick-win.

How long does this firmware update take? At least 45 minutes now with seemingly no progress. Is it safe to stop it so I can get on with my day? This is ridiculous.

Mine took at least 45 minutes. But not more than an hour to hour and a ¼. I just set it down and would check periodically so I’m not certain the exact length of time it took.

if you're pushing it via bluetooth it can take several hours.

Near about 1-1/2 hours now with no progress. Anybody know if it hurts to cancel and start over later via wifi? I was not aware of the wifi option when I started. This is beyond ridiculous.

Weird as I had the opposite issue. I had to abandon the update via WiFi and do it via Bluetooth. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at how we all are experiencing such a wide variety of issues. 🤦🏼:female_sign: I have still been unable to resolve the issue of not being able to connect the watch to WiFi since completing the update despite troubleshooting. Good luck to you.

@ohwell @nasder To clarify, some users received the OS2.1.1 (10.20) update, while the majority of users received OS2.1 (10.15). These versions are essentially the same, however.
Ok. Except that the custom exercise stats not saving is NOT fixed in 10.15, and anecdotal evidence from forum posts (at least on the Versa forums) indicate that it IS fixed in 10.20.
This is the only issue I need fixed (although I do understand that others have other issues). I update my Versa to 10.15 and now it’s not getting notifications, rarely connects to sync, whacky sleep tracking, randomly paused in the middle of a run yesterday (I know auto-pause was off because I have to redo my settings before EVERY RUN).
I know I can reboot this/that, pair/unpair, uninstall/reinstall and do the hokey pokey to “fix” it and it’ll all work again for a few hours at which point I can do it all again to “fix” it. My point is I didn’t NEED to do any of that prior to the update. It just worked. Like it’s supposed to.
Granted, the forum user base is but a small percentage of your total, but anecdotally, many with the 10.15 update are seeing similar issues (notifications/connectivity) to mine where those with 10.20 are not.
My Ionic currently works. I have the icon to update it. When will version 10.20 be pushed to everyone? I am on iOS so I really don’t care about auto replies. I do care about the one and only issue that I have on both devices (custom exercise stats not saving) and don’t want to lose the one functional device I do have (ionic) upgrading to a software version that doesn’t fix that one issue but creates others.
Sorry, I’m not usually this grumpy.

I agree I have .20 and this is the best my watch has ever worked maybe it would have been the same on .15 I don't know, but we all should be getting the same version firmware weather we are new or current customers. The spin going on in here trying to blow the firmware version subject over is unbecoming of a manufacturer that is supposed to be a leader in its field.

The silence from Fitbit about these issues is deafening.

@d_k
@MattFitbit
Updated, to 32.10.15, Switched to a phone running Android OS 7.1.2, (6.0.1 does not support quick replies)
Replies work now and most other things. Although certain apps no longer get notifications, Signal is one that does not work. ( They did on 32.10.15 with a phone running 6.0.1)
Android Messages works with replies though.
Not a big deal, just wanted to report.

Hi,
Since the firmware update, I am not receiving test message notifications on my Ionic. I am receiving calander and call notifications but not text message. I have tried everything I could think of including making sure all notifications are on, restarting my Ionic, force closing the app and uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Any idea what the issue might be?
Thanks!

What works for me:
Removing the Ionic from the bluetooth connections of my Android phone. I only do this when sync is stuck. Just removing it from bluetooth it immediately syncs again and receiving messages also works.
Disabling messages and re-enabling might also help.
It's a bad workaround, not a long-term solution, as I do this repeatedly.
Greetings
Dirk

@duck_puddle I updated my Ionic on 32.10.15 and I can confirm that custom stats saving is solved.
