Update 1/20/2021: The firmware is now released to 100%
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2.1 Firmware Update for Ionic.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic we recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.

Ok, so not a big update;
I was hoping for recording SpO2 without needing the special clock face, but no luck there...

I just hope it solves some of the problems many of us have. Mine won't swipe, count steps or heart rate, etc. It just has the time and date. Won't do anything else. I'm keeping it charged in hope that the new update will fix it.

I just received the update and completed it. My versa 2 remained on charge while the update was in process, when update was done the device was 110% charged. I took the device off of the charger and placed it on my wrest. My versa 2 battery drained 10% in 5 minutes. Yaahhh, now I have a fast draining battery.

Hi, I have the update to install but really concerned that it will stop my ionic working properlylike the last update did. What support or warranty do we get it this update causes the ionic to stop working?

So am I going to have to wait an entire year for the update to roll through as it did last time??
BTW, features weren't working on my Ionic and I was informed my Android version was to old for them to work (even though they used to and after the long awaited update). Have a new phone now with late model of android. Features still not working. Surprise, surprise. Fitbit has dropped the ball yet again.....

Update have nothing improve much from Ionic users desire. I thought this update bring cadence for run and walk feature, and VO2 max more approriate than stay fixed all the time.
Maybe fitbit should add training load and recovery time next update. Should be comparative with other competitors

Hi guys,
I just want to make you aware that this update has bricked my ionic and I'm pretty annoyed. Although they admitted there's issues, I've been dismissed in a really frustrating manner and th. Last message

Continued - the last message was that they hadn't heard from me in a while and just ended the chat. Really upsetting behaviour. What am I to do now?

I updated and now it seems to be dead. No screen, buttons do nothing. (If it restarts, I wouldn’t know.) This has become tiresome-the last update was a problem, too. So now what?

I updated my iconic, but now it won't show any data. The screen works just fine; however, the time, steps, etc., won't display even after restarting the device several times.

Updated. Like most of the previous updates, I did not encounter any problem. Hope this update will finally fix the long standing issue of water logging getting converted to incorrect unit.

I think there has been about 3 or 4 firmware updates since I found out about the issue. No fix. Fingers crossed this firmware will finally do something about it.
(Edit: Nevermind. The very first water log I entered on my Ionic after the update (240 ml) shows up as something like 7xxx ml on fitbit app...)

I wouldn't install it if I were you and I'm not surprised you haven't recieved a response from them. My Ionic doesn't work anymore because of it and I had issues like you with previous installs as well. Been to and fro with emails and they basically offered me 35% off a selection of watches, which I refused because I've no guarantee it won't happen again. My main sticking point was that I had a perfectly good watch stop working because of a firmware program I installed courtesy of fitbit. I asked for the part of the warranty that pertains to this but so far they can't supply it specifically. Kinda annoying and a waste of time and money. Be warned! I hope they come clean on this, 35% off a new watch isn't coming clean IMO.

Hi everyone!
Please note this new OS Firmware Update is a progressive rollout. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. Note that you will know you are on the new firmware once a banner appears in your app, we would appreciate your patience while you are notified about this new update.
If you are experiencing a different issue, please be advised to find a similar thread or post in a new thread, we want to keep this on topic. Which means anything related to non-firmware inquiries won't be addressed here.
To make sure your inquiry is firmware update related, you can verify that you're already in the latest version by tapping the Today tab > your profile picture > your device image. The firmware version number appears under your device's name. Ionic should say 27.72.1.9.
If you have issues after completing the update, try restarting the watch. and if you have any additional questions about your Fitbit device or services, visit help.fitbit.com.
