Update 9/3/2020: This update should now be available to all customers. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) for Ionic.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

Release notes can be found here.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.

Agree with previous posters about GPS being the primary reason I chose the more expensive Ionic over other models. I wanted to be able to go for a run without carrying my bulky phone. That's impossible now.

@YojanaFitbit @Thanks for your response. I’m glad you mentioned me twice and opened a case for me as I actually lol’d at the first link, being an IT geek who’s been using the ionic for 2 years with no issue until this fw update....

Yes, I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps. It doesn't fix it. I've restarted, toggled GPS, toggled location permissions, and anything else I could think of. When I start an exercise the GPS says it's trying to connect but never does.

Never a problem with Ionic, until i downloaded 4.2.. 71.6.19. Now, it take forever to sync workouts, turn off, turn on, turn off phone turn on phone... Transferring music was a breeze until the update, now most transfers are plagued with CRM FILE issues.. less than half the music transferred , fails with a CRM ISSUE..

I updated last night and then it wanted me to calibrate so I did.
I did a hike this morning that I normally do that is fairly strenuous. All my other hikes show about 30 minutes of cardio but my watch showed I only spent an hour in fat burn. I know I was VERY exerted for a portion of the hike but it seems like my heart rate tracking is significantly off. How can I fix it?

I have the same problem, Ionic was charged to 100% then I turned on the tracking and after a while during a pause it showed a black screen...for a short time I managed to turn it on showed that the battery is at 56% I update/ synching and then a black screen appeared, but it often happens to me when tracking that black screen appears and the battery is completely depleted

Hi @YojanaFitbit,
could you please respond to my post?
It received three upvotes but no response yet.
First, @KateFitbit responded to posts before and after my post, not addressing my post.
Then you posted for the third time now, without responding to my post. Perhaps you assumed it was handled by @KateFitbit?
Should I split up the questions, using only one question per post?
I'm happy to do that, if it helps. I'd also be happy for any answer on any of the questions; no need to answer them all, if the answers are not know. For sure, though, some of the answers should be available to you, correct?

"some of the answers should be available to you, correct?"
I'm not sure the site moderators know any or all of your questions - or have been sworn to secrecy if they do?
Publishing software/fimware bug fixes doesn't appear to be a part of the Fitbit company modus operandi. Which is dissapointing to say the least.
We already know that rolling back to a previous firmware IS NOT an option.
And the company seems to be reluctant to allow the user to switch off notification for the currently available firmware update.
I expect compatibility data between every make and model phone and the firmware is not something that is available - although compatibility between all supported operating systems and the firmware should be known and should have been "soak tested" in the companies alpha/beta testing before any public release.

@PaulMe @EXACTLY this! Why can’t we just have a roll back option or postpone updates until fully tested and proved? I hate to say it, maybe follow Microsoft’s example...

My ionic continues to keep restarting or stops telling time. I’ve tried all of the fixes and still the same. Anymore suggestions?

My Fitbit Ionic notified of system updating data. After waiting 2 days it still had not updated.
Checked WiFi connection - reconnected as was not showing. Left over night on charge. Not dated by morning
Left on charge over weekend now 4 days.
App only shows updating data base. Not functioning as normal.
Now my Fitbit doesn't seem to be on, attempted to turn on and nothing happens...
Please advise me how to resolve this issue.
