Ionic NOT syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello.

My Ionic is NOT syncing with my LG V20.

I have read other articles and have tried:

  1. uninstalling the Fitbit app
  2. unpairing the Ionic
  3. restarting the phone
  4. restarting the Ionic
  5. reinstalling the Fitbit app
  6. tried resetting up the Ionic

It's getting frustrated. When through the steps in one forum that was closed saying the problem has been resolved though it clearly hasn't been.

Any suggestions other than factory resetting this thing and losing 5 days worth of data? (That's how long since it has successfully sync'ed.

Thanks for any help that can get this solved.

Sincerely,

Jo Poplawski

Try to connect the ionic to the charger and explicitly sync it in the Fitbit app.
Lately for me it is the only way to have it sync with my phone.

It is a little ridiculous... that I have to do it... but it works.

Why do you mean by "explicitly sync it in the Fitbit app"?

Do you mean connect the charger to the Ionic and have the ionic plugged in to the computer?

If that's the ticket, I'll take it for now.

This is driving me nuts too.

Aside from syncing via bluetooth to iPad / iPhone - I also use the FitBit app for my Windows PC, which uses a dongle to sync.

OR rather it doesn't - it has stopped syncing to the main PC - probably for a couple of weeks now. It just keeps saying 'no dongle fitted, please try again'. I've tried removing the app and reloading - but no change.  I've had many FitBit versions over the years but this darn Ionic is proving to be an expensive dullard 😞

I've spent a couple of hours off an on with Fitbit support. No help at all.
One tech suggested that I, get this, replace my phone with something
compatible. I have the LG V20. I also tried syncing it with a Galaxy S5, S3
and Google Pixel 2.

I explained that it wasn't sync'ing to my computer either. His suggestion,
use someone else's computer to keep it sync'ed. Mentioned that it didn't
sync to any of the other laptops and tablets that I have.

Definitely a dullard. I've lost all my data. Now it's just collecting dust.

I spent some time on LiveChat with an agent. She had me do a re-set on iPhone and on Ionic. It helped in that the sync started working.

However, I raised my concern that I've heard of people having to keep using the re-set option, which clearly isn't acceptable not least given the price of the Ionic. She has given me a case number and if it keeps needing to be re-set I'm to contact them and they will look at options. No idea what they are at this stage, I'm hoping I won't need them.

I will report back to this thread should I need to revisit this issue with them.

What do you mean with reset? Factory reset? I will not do that on my IPhone. The sync was working better before the latest update. Now I am luck if it sync once a day. I also struggle to get it connected to network.

It's infuriating isn't it.  Mine has started going for days without being able to sync and then it starts syncing relatively painlessly for a few days then the problems return.  It also seems that when I start the running app when it's in its no syncing phase it causes a crash.  I've emailed support lots about it. It's obviously faulty.  They see that I mainly use an unsupported phone and they think that's the problem, despite the fact that it won't sync with my supported phone or my PC either.  I also get the feeling that they think my Surface Pro 4 is a phone.  I'm sure at some point they'll get the message and replace the phone, but it's taking loads of my time

@GekkoZZZ

They had me just turn the iPhone off and then on again. And to re-set the Ionic by holding in the left and bottom right switches at the same time, until I got the FitBit logo.

@SunsetRunner

They have a supported phone?  Which one would that be?  Darned if I'm going to change my phone because they can't sort out a basic (she says!) syncing issue.

well they have a list of supported devices, if your device isn't on that list it seems they just assume that's the cause of any problem

Well, I've not had any luck syncing with the following:

- Windows 10 computer
- Windows 10 laptops (3 of them)
- Galaxy Note Pro 12
- Galaxy Note 3
- Galaxy S3
- Galaxy S5
- Galaxy S8
- LG V20
- Google Pixel 2

I would have to imagine that at least one of them would work.

It's crazy. It seems to be a great device but useless without sync.

Asking people to factory reset their sync device is insane and seriously
inconvenient.

It would be great if there was at least a way to directly sync the device
to a computer using the cable. At least I would not have lost all of my
data.

I was always able to sync to my W10 system via a dongle. It stopped playing, but is now back in action. I removed the Windows app and reloaded. It (W10 app) didn't kick straight back in but did come back to life after I'm done the re-set on the Ionic.

This is the only way I can recover from the device no longer syncing.  I am starting to see a pattern that the syncing stops following a charge.  I will now do a reset (simultaneous left and bottom right buttons press) each time I charge to see if I can stop the syncing issue following a charge without doing a reset.

I did a factory reset and it worked for 2 days ,  but i did get an email from fitbit saying they were working on it A bunch of BS, they didnt mind selling the product however they certainly mind backing it when its a problem . Ive been with fitbit for many years and this is my last fitbit product. no wonder they are having financial trouble

Thinking of returning mine - hope the shop accepts it though.

Syncing has stopped for me for the 3rd time now, first time did a factory reset which on it's own didn't resolve the issue. Also had to unpair it on my laptop and phone.

I won't do any other factory reset since I would lose over weeks of data which is really important for me.

What a crap product due to sync issues.

what makes me mad is mine worked great for 2 months now its too late to return it to the store. The most aggravating thing of all is fitbit support sending these ridiculous generic emails. I want a resolution to the problem or my money back either one is fine with me

Fitbit know they have an issue with the Ionic when any other Fitbit is paired with the account - so apologies if this doesn't apply to you.
