Ionic NOT syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello.

My Ionic is NOT syncing with my LG V20.

I have read other articles and have tried:

  1. uninstalling the Fitbit app
  2. unpairing the Ionic
  3. restarting the phone
  4. restarting the Ionic
  5. reinstalling the Fitbit app
  6. tried resetting up the Ionic

It's getting frustrated. When through the steps in one forum that was closed saying the problem has been resolved though it clearly hasn't been.

Any suggestions other than factory resetting this thing and losing 5 days worth of data? (That's how long since it has successfully sync'ed.

Thanks for any help that can get this solved.

Sincerely,

Jo Poplawski

at the request of fitbit support i removed my other tracker and it worked great for 2 days. the problem is my ionic worked perfect for 3 months with the other tracker on my account and all of a sudden it stopped . i removed the tracker as requested and it still doesnt work so thats not the problem

I contacted customer support where they asked me to pair it again, told them it had happened 3 times already on 2 different devices.

They can't even admit this is an issue. This is bad user experience if I have to pair it again in every 2-3 weeks. Will be returning mine to the shop - it's something they won't be able to replicate, it will just happen. Making it harder for them to troubleshoot.

Having returned my Ionic for refund - intending to buy again when (if?) the syncing problem is solved, I wrote to Fitbit ...

I have returned my Fitbit Ionic to store and obtained a refund.

My fitness goals would be impeded if I can only use the Ionic so I have decided to stay with my Blaze and Charge until the syncing problem is resolved - then purchase an Ionic again.

I have a simple question though …

How will I know when the problem is resolved. Presumably it won’t be publicised widely?

their response ...

We're sorry to hear you've returned your Ionic.

At this time, we are not able to provide a definitive timeline for when these issues will be resolved.

Although there won't be any formal announcement made when these issues are resolved, you can track our firmware update releases via the following article: What's changed in the latest Fitbit device update?

We hope this helps. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

So, I'll be monitoring their firmware updates and the community until I'm satisfied they've fixed the problem.

I have a concern, though, that the problem is so elusive that they may eventually opt for Ionic 2 !!!

Today it was saying that it has not been syncing for a while. On the dashboard was a week. On the Ionic I had to go to "Settings > About > Shutdown" and turned it back on. Then it started syncing again.

This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.

With these kind of updates, good luck to find out what was really fixed.

This is the exact reason I'm on here. Last update was last night at 9:35 pm. I have been trying to sync to my phone for the last 3 hours. I JUST NOW got it to work. Had to completely shut phone off for a few minutes and restart my fitbit. Extremely frustrating! I am also noticed that my active minutes are not being recorded as they were before. Not happy right now😤

I have experienced syncing issues but only occasionally.  Here is what has worked for me.

If Ionic is not syncing with phone, I turn off bluetooth, wait a minute and turn back on.  If that doesn't work, I restart my phone.  This has always worked.

If my phone isn't syncing with my computer - Windows 10 - I turn off wi-fi, wait a minute than turn back on.  Then I refresh my dashboard.  This has always worked.

For me, I believe that the issue is with my phone which is an older Galaxy s4, not my Ionic.

Hope this helps some of you

Hi Genome,

I had already tried restarting Bluetooth and restarting my phone (also an
S4). The only thing that worked for me was restarting my Ionic.

yes pairing and unpairing seems to be the only answer fitbit support can give other than we are aware its a problem but we dont know when or if there will be a resolution. Ive done all the trouble shooting including a factory reset and im just getting the run around from fit bit. I did manage to convince 2 of my co workers not to waste their money on the ionic. I showed them my emails from fit bit support and that convinced them

What do you mean with reset? Factory reset? I will not do that on my IPhone. The sync was working better before the latest update. Now I am luck if it sync once a day. I also struggle to get it connected to network.

I think they just meant to say they were instructed to do a factory reset on the Ionic (not the iPhone).  Just hold down all three buttons on the Ionic at the same time for about 10 seconds.

Hey guys,

I had similar issues on my huawei p8max, worked perfectly for several months and then just suddenly stopped syncing. I tried all kinds of stuff like unpairing and pairing, restart ionic, restart phone etc.

My solution to this, could be p8max specific, shut down the app itself. So the difference between when syncing worked and when it stopped is that i kept the fitbit app alive (it's a setting in huawei that i can lock the app so it doenst is not closed by huawei on reboot or turning of the screen. But apparently it also keeps some kind of cache setting i think. When i removed the lock and started up the app again it synced immediately!

I SEE ALL THE REVIEWS, DISAPPOINTED IN THIS FITBIT IONIC WITH ALL THESE ISSUES I WISH I HAD NOT PURCHASED THIS WATCH, I UPDATED FROM THE CHARGE 2, I DO NOT KNOW HOW FITBIT CAN SELL THIS WATCH WITH ALL THESE ISSUES? I HAVE SYNCED WITH MY IPHONE APP BUT I CAN NOT GET THE MUSIC APPS TO WORK, SYNCED WITH ALL OF THE POST WILL STILL NOT UPDATE OR WORK, AND WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU HAVE TO BE CLOSE TO THE COMPUTER AND SYNCING ALONG WITH BEING ON A CHARGER IF THERE IS OVER 50% POWER ON THE CHARGE, WASTE OF MONEY IN MY OPINION $324.00 AND IT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY THINKING ABOUT GETTING A REFUND AND PURCHASING THE APPLE WATCH?
