Ionic Not Connecting to Account

I have had great trouble syncing my watch/phone. I can live without the ionic doing 95% of what it is supposed to but now my time display is wrong (by 7 hours) and I can't figure out why and I can't fix it.

Every time i try to sync the app/watch it:

  • connects using bluetooth,
  • the watch provides the 4 digit code, and
  • then for the next 60+ minutes the phone says its connecting. that's it.

I don't understand how the app can recognise the phone but the app cant conect to fitbit central.

I've tried disconnect and reconnect of bluetooth, I have done the same for the phone and deleted the app and downloaded the app.

All i want (now) is a watch that ca tell me the time - without me adding 7hrs or subtracting 5hrs.

This is absurd.

Next step is to apply the hammer test - at least that will give me some enjoyment.... I hope

@MGIonicdisaster Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with your Ionic not syncing to your account and showing incorrect time.

This is happening as a result of it not syncing properly. As you are getting the 4 digit code instructions it means it is not even paired to your account. So, in this case, I'd recommend trying all of these set up troubleshooting steps in order to sort this out.

Also, very important, please check that you are using a compatible mobile device. It must be compatible for the app to work correctly. If not, try setting it up using a computer and let me know if that works.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I have followed all the steps and still no result (on at least 10 occasions since your response).

I want this to work.

On the app

  • it recognises the Ionic (Bluetooth)
  • It says 'connecting to Fitbit', and
  • then nothing...........

Hammer time is looking REALLY good at the moment

After much soul searching and an exhausting R&D approach to working through a solution I am happy to report that the problem is resolved.

THE HAMMER WON !

... and I feel so much better that I have released the Ionic to a resting place where it belongs.
