So I am a OCR athlete and race Spartan’s, tough mudders, warrior dashes, and any other OCR events out there. I was looking to get an Ionic, but I have no idea the durability it will have during a race. I will be participating in toughest, worlds toughest mudder, and maybe the spartan finials if I can qualify and no time conflicts. Will this watch hold up to the abuse?? Being able to monitor my heart race on these longer races will give me an edge that’s worth the money.

Just completed my first Spartan Race earlier (a 6+km trail run) and I am happy to report that the Ionic has survived the abuse of the terrain 🙂 I just wore my arm sleeves over it!

I've done a 5k mud run with the Ionic and it held up great. For this race, it was submerged in muddy water for long periods of time and got pretty caked with mud around the edges. I did buy a cheap terry cloth wristband to protect the face against scratches.
on Amazon I purchased a screen protector for $10 and it went on pretty easy, and see no difference in reading the face of the watch.
no stuck with the Blaze and like it. The new Versus looks great although I don't expect to upgrade. regards
