Ionic completely dead

My fitbit died at 4:10 am today (that's the last time it synced).  It has been slowly failing last week and restarts seems to keep it going.  Now nothing works.  The screen is completely black and yes, I've tried charging it.  It will not restart.  My fitbit app shows that the battery is full, so Bluetooth may still be working, but it will not sync with the Ionic anymore.  I've had it for about 18 months.  Is it fixable?

Another person that will probably be out of luck.  There seems to be a lot of us.  Over a 12 months and it seems to be so sad to bad.  I can't believe that Fitbit doesn't accept that it is something they did in the last update. I am really ticked off and will never purchase another product from them if they don't fix this one for me.  I'll be getting an Apple Watch next.  A reliable product

Same as the rest of us, but I had a minor cosmetic damage so fitbit says that's why mine is faulty even thou it worked fine with the fault untill the update. According to support chat everyone with black screen fixes when doing factory reset (even thou the forums says something else....)

my fitbit ionic died this morning, when doing the update of the firmware, suddenly when off and never came back on.

this is clearly a fail in the fitbit software that bricks the motherboard of the watch. now mine was already out of warranty and all I got offered was a 40% discount to buy a new one.

after this I'm divorcing from fitbit for life, not recommending these products anymore. is irresponsible from this company to screw people products with bad software and not doing anything to repair the damage. I'm glad this guys are not in the pharmaceutical industry.

No kidding.  I was thinking the automobile business but then cars can be fixed.....these Fitbits can't from the look of it.

No, these fitbit Ionic cant be fixed, I talked to an electronics repairs guy who fixes the ionic broken screens and told me that he received in the last month more than 3 calls with the same issue. apparently is an issue with the motherboard and the writing of the firmware in the rom, once bricked you are the proud owner of a piece of junk. you can get 25$ for the screen with this guy. that's it.

now what bothers me is that the error is caused by fitbit itself, they are the ones asking you update the device. mine was working just fine before this and now is not working.

there is no way in heaven I'm buying anything from this company again in my life. learned my lesson in the hard way, should bought an apple iwatch a year ago when in the market for smart trackers.

now Garmin is apparently a nice option too, far better in quality than fitbit.

My Fitbit Ionic died last Saturday. It had 80% charge, and all of a sudden, it died. I chatted with service, and very kindly they asked me to do a series of tests to the watch, and nothing worked. Very politely they told me that the watch was dead, and nothing could be done to bring it back to life. They thanked me for my "understanding" ???????????????

I asked if there was a place where I could send it to be fixed and the answer was NO!

It is unbelievebale that a smartwatch with this price is a disposable watch. Mine lasted 16 months until it died.

They should mention it in the advertising that "This watch is only good for 12-16 months".

Just here to commiserate.  Can I ask what firmware version you were updating to?  I know a couple folks with ionics that were bought in the last 3 months, and I'm curious if they will have the same issue.

My ionic also died this weekend and was from Oct 2017.  So many devices "spontaneously" dying is UNACCEPTABLE and I can't believe they aren't doing more to keep their customers.

I wasnt updating the firmware unless it did it on its own. It started acting strange and requiring constant restarts to function and just.died. I bought it when it was first released Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
