My beloved ionic died. It was working just fine, then sometime in the early hours of September 10, it shut down, never to log another step again. I had a Fitbit ZIP since 2014. After that had served me faithfully for three years, it died in 2017, I made the leap and invested in an Ionic. Just shy of two years and the Ionic turned off in the night. It won't respond to charging or attempting to factory reset. RIP

Thank you Lizzy for responding . It sure would be hella nice I'm sure not just for me but for all the other ppl out that purchased this expensive watch for it to die before 2yrs. I mean even if they replaced it not just give us a 25% off next purchase. I mean mine died I tried to charge no go. Others mentioned it just stopped completely. My gf has a charge 2 and it's been going 3 years. My ionic was more expensive lasted 18 months. I was good with mine untill this. Either way thank you once again for a response I just hope if they cant fix these issue pull the watch or extend the warranty.

My Ionic stopped syncing a couple weeks ago. It was about 16 months old. I did a soft reset and two hard resets. Nothing worked.
So I bought a Samsung Galaxy Active Watch 2. Wow, so much better than any of the FitBits I've owned since 2015. It was fun while it lasted but I think it's pretty clear that FitBit doesn't really care about the longevity of its product.

Hello @LizzyFitbit, thanks for your getting back. Little confused regarding your response. You mentioned this post will go unnoticed, does this mean fitbit is going to do something regarding my ionic or is fitbit just using this as a lesson for future product quality?

My replacement just died a day ago. I came to the forums to see if anything had changed since the last time this happened and it doesn't look like there is a fix. I guess I will wait for Black Friday when Garmins go on sale. I really loved my Ionic but I have had 3 in a year. (3!!!) I think when you pay $300 for a watch it should last a little longer than a year but my first one lasted 30 days, the second lasted 5 months and the last one 6 months. There seems to be a serious issue with these watches, too many people have the same problem with dead watches. I have tried every way to bring my watch back up. The battery was charged when it died so that is not the issue. I didn't bother calling customer support. They were very nice last time but I can see from the posts that a discount coupon is all that I have to look forward to and that's not really worth my time right now.

Hello. It's nice to see all of you here in this thread and I'm sorry for the delay.
Thanks for every step tried on your own, as well for sharing your thoughts about the Ionic. I understand how you're feeling about your watches as they should have worked correctly. Your feedback has been passed along to our team so they can work on our products and enhance their performance. If you have a case created with our Support team, I'd suggest to reply back to their last email so they can provide you with more details about the situation experienced with your Ionic.
I'll continue being around if you have any other question.

Want to add my name to the list of Ionic users whose fitbit died with little warning. I suppose I should consider myself fortunate in that it last nearly 2 years. I purchased mine in December of 2019. For the past month or so the duration of the battery charge was dwindling. I found ways to charge it during my commute, while I was at my desk at work, etc. This worked for a time. About 3 days ago it just would not turn on. Holding the left and bottom right button for over a minute while trying to charge (and not "charging") made zero difference. I do love the Fitbit and this was my third watch. This sudden Fitbit Death Syndrome is annoying though. I am trying to be Earth friendly and buying a "disposable" watch / activity tracker does not match those efforts.

My first ionic died within a year. After complaining, I was sent a replacement that lasted 3 months. Very disappointed with the product and response. Certainly there must be a problem with this product as my wife's charge 2 is working fine.

Nope. My replacement listed 3 months and died after software update. I don't know if that had anything to do with it but I'm very disappointed. I was told that it is out of warranty

I see mine only lasted 18 months. All they offer me is a 25% off next purchase. If they cant do better than that I'm not getting one. It seems like every body that had the ionic has their watch die after a software update or when the battery drains all the way. I know FITBIT IS FULLY AWARE of this issue yet has done nothing to fix it. A 300 dollar watch and it gos to crap in less than 2 years. Not sure why they have not addressed the issue guess they dont monitor their sites or customer reviews. Hopefully google does better and actually looks into this and pulls this watch of stores or atleast addresses the issue.

It is ver awful that we pay that much and it does. It's not even heavy enough for an expensive paper weight. Like you mentioned I hope google does take care of the software issue. They need to or they just bout a company with a seemingly growing bad reputation for their ionic watches n software issue on them. I'm hoping there was a fix for them or repair that would extend the life of the watch further. Untill then I'm still searching for another watch hopefully better and less expensive.

My iconic died not long after the one year warranty expired. I too was offered the standard 25% off a new one. After elevating my complaint I was offered 50% of a new one with a full warranty or a free replacement with a 30 day warranty. I took the free one,. It worked fine until it needed to be recharged...it won’t recharge....almost 2 weeks later I received another one....fingers crossed.
as for google....I don’t think you will see much difference, they just want to collect your information to sell it.

Fingers crossed and good luck on the replacement. They didnt want to give me any replacement at all. They all seem to be having software issues and charging ones. Yes that's true now that I think about it referring to google and the info collecting. Ik ll just wait till I see better one different watch I guess.

My Ionic died yesterday, there were no changes, all of a sudden it died. I have tried recharges and resets bit nothing, only a battery image with 0% in it. It is not yet 2 years old, 21 months only. Is there a way to change the battery?

Hello welcome to the ionic dissaster.... Unfortunately I dont thinkbthat there is a battery replacement I have looked and searched. I have seen screen replacement done on youtube but not a battery one. It would be nice to see one somewhere that way mine and many others can get back to working again...

Mine did the same died and would not recharge or reset. I dont think they make battery replacements for it then FITBIT would loose out on all that money they scammed off of us that bought the ionic.
