Ionic losing time

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Ionic has been working just fine for the last few months until yesterday. I noticed that the time was a few minutes off, then progressively got worse. I synced my Fitbit, and the time caught up. Today, it was off again, and wouldn't sync. I was able to fix it, but now it's off again. I'm noticing that the WiFi on my Fitbit says that it's off. How do I stop that from happening?
Here's what I've done:
1. Restarted my Fitbit.
2. Restarted my app.
3. Checked my home WiFi settings. (They haven't changed...ever.)
4. Made sure bluetooth was off on other devices.
5. Forgotten the Ionic on my bluetooth menus.
6. Factory reset my Fitbit. (took almost 3 hours to finally get it to hook up) Thought this fixed it...but it didn't.
7. Deleted and reinstalled app.

Any other tricks, or should I give up on my Ionic and switch to Samsung?

Hi,

I am in the same boat except my fitbit is less than 6 months old: the FB itself is OK but, once I let it "update" last week, its not synching with my iphone (my Iphone cannot detect any bluetooth signal from it)

I even bought a replacement Ionic on the weekend but it went through the same update & now it will not work either...

I complained to Fitbit & it now looks like they have "black-listed" my phone number!!!

If your Fitbit is only 6 months old, it's still under warranty, and they should replace it. You shouldn't have had to buy a new one.

Fitbit maintain that their warranty is only 45 days! My response was that it was a luxury item &, at that cost, a 45 day warranty is BS!! Only just getting the new one up & running now!!

You should do a live chat with a rep on this board. Their warranty is suppose to be a year. What country are you in?

I just started having this same issue. The fitbit is losing time and it won't sink. It also won't allow me to select an exercise that uses the GPS, it freezes and then reboots itself. The factory reset does nothing.. 😞

Post it in the forum, there are some fixes but they’re quite involved..

Au revoir!

This is the forum. I'm confused by your statement. I haven't found any fixes, yet.

My husbands Ionic just started having this same problem.  I have a versa and we bought both devices in May.  My versa was having issues charging and then just went dead.  Strange that our devices started glitching on almost the same day.

I am very disappointed in Fitbit that they dropped problem solving in this thread. @Rawrbyn did you get anywhere with a chat agent?

Nope. I was reprimanded for "duplicate comments, then that's it. No solutions.

Tell them that, as a premium priced tofu tot is not acceptable that it failed so quickly...

Au revoir!

And my post was removed because it was “off topic” when I mentioned the A (competitor smart watch) word!

An update:
I didn't talk to customer service. I talked to a live chat person, and they didn't help me. They only suggested the same steps that everyone else suggested.
My Ionic was able to sync on July 22nd, but was still losing time. So, I just left it on my desk to die. Yesterday, I charged it up to try it out again, and it works again. I've used it the past two days and it is fine. When it started losing time last October, I was able to get a replacement. When that replacement died, I charged this one again, and the time was fine. Both times, the time issue happened after I attempted to control my music on my iPhone with my watch. So, I won't be doing that again. It's shame, because that's the entire reason I bought the watch. I'm a fitness instructor and need to control my music from the stage.
I'll use my Ionic until I have the money to replace it. At that point, I'll probably switch brands.

I have the same issue, losing time. This problem started after the last Fitbit update from the Playstore.

I did a reset on the Watch and did a firmware Upgrade, and problem still exist. There is something wrong with App syncing with Iconic, Fitbit support needs to address this software issue. Since my watch is under warranty, I requested a replacement Watch; I suspect the replacement will have the same issue since it has to communicate with App.

That’s a really interesting comment about controlling the music on your phone from the watch because I didn’t usually do that (didn’t really know I could!) until a child relative found the function on my watch at the start of June. I am not sure the losing time and not connecting/syncing problem started exactly from that point but certainly within a week or two it did. I’ve switched brands (I mentioned which one on one post and my post was removed as “off topic” 🙄) and given the replacement I was sent to my husband - and so far it is fine. You may have identified a problem and solution that Fitbit seem to be oblivious to?

To resolve this problem I did the following:

- connected my watch to my laptop

- restarted by phone

- logged out of the Fitbit app on my phone and then logged back in

Watch now seems to have synced. I will have to wait and see if it stays synced. If not, I will ditch the Ionic and get another brand of watch which would be a shame as I quite like the Ionic. Fingers crossed it behaves itself.

I've been having the same issues; intermittent synching, losing time (5-10 min overnight).  I was about to abandon the ionic, but after deleting it from my account, logging out, restarting my phone (LG6), logging in and adding the ionic--after several attempts--I finally got it back.  I still have to sync manually often, and it takes multiple attempts, recycling bluetooth, recycling the app, recycling the phone sometimes, etc.  I've had the blaze, wife & daughter have the versa, and this is by far the worst.  I think it's a software isssue.  BTW, my bluetooth syncs fine with my SUV, my earbuds, etc.  I called support, and they won't replace it, a few months out of warranty--just offered me a 25% discount on a new one, which only brought the price down to what Amazon offers.  Terrible customer service.  I'll be switching brands.
