Morning all!
I have had my Fitbit Ionic for around 10 months.
I swim 2-3 times a week. It used to be very good at detecting how many lengths I had done during my sessions. Over the past month, it has stopped counting lengths. I have it set to the right pool length, and manually start and stop the timer when in the pool, but nothing seems to help.
It is getting very frustrating, and it going against the only reason I bought the watch!
Any hints/tips/help would be very greatly received please.
Thank you.

@Hwaterman88 It's great to see you on the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried.
Sorry to hear that your Ionic isn't tracking all your laps. Some inconsistencies in your swim data may be caused by any of the following:
Let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Hello, thank you for your reply.
The advice does not really apply to me, please see below:
You completed only a few laps
I counted to 60 and then stopped counting, it is a 25m pool
You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool
I do not stop until my lengths are completed
You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
I did not stop
You changed your stroke type midway through a length
I do not do this
You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms
I do not do this
You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized
I timed 45 minutes on the stop watch part of the Swim Section of the app
Are there any other tips? I do not want to have to manually input my laps every time I complete one, I got the Ionic so I wouldn't have to do this.
Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem. It measures the time I swim accurately but not the laps. I dont change stroke or rest between laps exactly the same. I am losing on average 5 to 8 laps on a 45 lap swim. I touch the wall at every lap end also. I purchased the watch purely for swimming as I struggle with walking since an accident.

@Tamrichards Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.
I appreciate that you mentioned your stroke isn't changing and you're not resting between laps either. In this case, I would like you to confirm you have entered the pool length in your watch by doing the following:
Looking forward to hearing back from you. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Hi yes I have entered the pool length. I changed the app to maual laps and it was more accurate but I was still 2 or 3 laps short. I am doing an aspire charity swim so need it to be accurate for my records

@Hwaterman88 you are lucky to have lap count while swimming at all. Unfortunately on the Charge 4 we can only see the time.

Like other people, I have the same problem. It seems to be consistently undercounting laps/lengths.
My watch is set to 25 yards to match my pool and I swim for 45 minutes, usually doing between 25 and 30 laps, with short or no rests at the wall, only doing a free-style stroke, not using a kickboard at all. In other words, I'm doing all the things Fitbit suggests and it still under counts.
I'm wondering if a few things could cause this?
1) I'm actually pretty short so I have to do more strokes per length than an average person?
2) I'm still a pretty slow swimmer?
3) I do a flip-turn at the end wall (on the way back)?
