Hi all,
I got a new Ionic to replace my Charge 2 and I am not getting any notifications to the watch. I have a Samsung Galaxy 7 edge and my notification bar on the phone says the notifications are running. I disabled the Charge 2 and have turned on my phone and Ionic along with doing all the other recommended steps. I am at a lose, my Charge 2 worked fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Ballhome57 so glad to hear this. I've seen you struggling with this quite some time.
You just updated it (app or watch?) and it came to life?

I'm the opposite, notifications were working fine, until I updated the Ionic software (I put it off for ages as I sort of knew something bad would happen) - and once I updated the Ionic software, the watch has become a little crazy (ie. does not work normally - notifications being one thing). Came here looking for a simple solution, however looks like i'll just have to go back to uninstalling and resetting everything in attempt.
Note to fitbit - can you not 'improve' the software with updates. Never works. Thanks.

I have a Galaxy S6 Edge+ and I switched the default texting app from Message+ to Samsung Messages and the notifications work fine now.

Here's how I got it working after the latest update:
1. Enable in the Fitbit app.
2. Enable on watch.
3. Restart the watch.

The solution that worked for me was:
1. I debonded the Ionic fron the Bluetooth of the phone.
2. I turned off the phone.
3. I turned off the Ionic through the settings -->About -->Shutdown.
4. I turned on the phone, and when the boot was completed I turned on the Ionic
5. I opened the Fitbit app and I went to the watch and disabled and re-enabled the call notifications. Then my Ionic vibrated once, as it was bonded again by it self.
It's has been 5 days now that I receive all the notification and I'm excited about it.
Hey Fitbit, you have MAJOR PROBLEM with the notifications, we paid 300€, and we want we need everything working smooth as butter. It's been more than 6 months that the Ionic is in market and still has issues!!
DISCLAIMER: I don't know if this will work for you.

Thanks for at least a troubleshoot solution, KosmasK. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I have an LG G5 and am trying to sync my notifications with Message+ with no luck. Since the latest update came through, I have not received ANY text messages on my Ionic. I have restarted the phone, restarted the Ionic, turned off notifications, turned them back on, and have had NO response for my text messages. I do get phone call alerts, but that's it. Since last week, I have not gotten my calendar notifications either. This was a buggy feature that has become really irritating for me!

This problem is not solved. I've been struggling to get reliable notifications and have found service to be totally erratic. I've tried these solutions and they work for 1/2 day only to find notifications are not coming through. Getting notifications through the watch is a critical function for me as I'm unable to retrieve and view my phone at work and need to receive messages and know who might be calling me.
This is the function I most rely on. I have reset this and got it working over 3 times only to find it drops again.
After installing the latest update yesterday.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I rebooted the watch, I removed and reset connections and the notifications, I've done everything suggested. It is working now …. but for how long? Why can't this be fixed to be reliable.

This happened to me, and I tried everything I could think of on the phone, EXCEPT turning on the notifications from the watch itself. Make SURE you do that, please!

The notifications, especially on calls, texts and emails MUST be 100% reliable to be of any use at all. Even with the latest upgrade, it's not. I have checked my Ionic over and over, including having notifications on the watch turned on. The Iconic's unreliability communicating with the Fitbit app on the smart phone is not just limited with the notifications, but it is quite unreliable communicating with the other apps like yelp and weather I've tried. For instance I set up the weather app city and the weather starts showing up on the Ionic, telling the minutes since the last accuweather update. An algorithm is use to compute current temp from that first and only communication with Accuweather. After a few hours, the weather on the Iconic goes blank. When I go back into the Fitbit app and set the weather app up again, the weather displays on the Iconic once again for few hours. It only updates when I manually update it again. Not at all usefull, but like notifications, shows a major design flaw in the Iconics ability to communicate and feed with the Fitbit app. With as many updates as Fitbit has come out with that don't seem to fix the problem I have to wonder if Fitbit shouldn't do a recall on the iconic and fix them or refund purchasers money.

I totally agree notifications functions and reliability is critical. Perhaps others are most interested in the health/ athletic functions. Those are secondary to me. I am so disappointed and only hope someone at Fitbit understands this issue and works to fix it.

I bought an Ionic to replace my stone cold reliabe Flex II at a considerably higher price to gain not just health functions, but to gain ALL the useful smartwatch functions, including notifications and apps. The $59 Flex II serves the health functions quite well except heart. I paid $260 to get ALL the Ionic's much ballyhooed features and functions. Had I bought a device that only provided the features and functions that work reliably on the Ionic, that device would of cost less than $100 or better yet, just kept my trusty bug free Flex II. My feelings are that Fitbit's flagship Ionic is grossly over marketed and way under developed.
