Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Rudydog1! Thanks for already troubleshooting this syncing issue, nice way to go!

I know this can be a little annoyed, but I'd like you to confirm if the following steps below are the ones you've tried with our support team:

Depending your Android device, these tips might make syncing easier:

  • Turn on the Always Connected option in the Fitbit app. This setting improves the Bluetooth connection between your phone and Fitbit device. Note that turning on this feature may cause the battery on your Fitbit device to drain more quickly than normal.
  • Turn on All-Day Sync in the Fitbit app. This setting prompts your Fitbit device to periodically sync with the Fitbit app but may shorten battery life on your phone or Fitbit device.

If those steps don't work, try these steps:

  1. Force quit and then reopen the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. Restart your Ionic by following these steps
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app.

I'll be around, keep me in the loop!

I have tried everything recommend. It works for two days and then I have to reset, uninstall and re-pair. This is frustrating. What is the solution. If not fixable I am returning and getting a Garmin.

It seems to me that I need to do the "workaround" a couple of times a month

Best Answer

I have done the work around, i have uninstalled, restarted, re-installed, unpaired, re-paired, jumped through hoops, done everything multiple times. it connects for maybe an hour and THEN BOOM, NOT SYNCING AGAIN or does not pair for 3/4 days then sometimes maybe syncs. Is there going to be a fix on this ? There is no point having a fitness watch when i am unable to see my daily/weekly progress and i am not accumulating points for the workouts i am doing. This was not a cheap fitness tracker and yet my cheap tom tom spark 3 NEVER had any issues. What is the workaround and ETA on the resolution ?

Having serious software problem with my ionic. What a rip-off. The ionic is headed for a landfill. Going back to my low-tech watch.

I am also having syncing issues  I've tried these and nothing. Please help

Can't synchronise at all, now doesn't even show on available bluetooth devices.

I have reinstalled the app, reset the ionic, all of it.

Fitbit please do not ignore these requests. It is obviously a problem on your side if suddenly everyone's watches stopped working!

Please fix it asap.

My Ionic Fitbit is keeping track of steps, temp, heart rate and sleep. It's losing time, (slower every hour, every day). I could follow all the reset, reboot and resynchronize steps taking hours++ and it will work for one time sync.  (I spent and over an hour on the phone with FITBIT. ) It's Not syncing and Not recognized AGAIN by my phone.  PLEASE FIX !!  I'm not willing to buy another Ionic only to repeat these issues. PLEASE FIX ASAP!! Thanks!

UPDATE

I have reinstalled the PREVIOUS version of fitbit app and in minutes it worked fine and continues worling fine. Make sure to disable automatic updates.

Emails or support from fitbit didnt resolve anything at all, useless.

I did the Ionic update a few days ago. My watch hasn't been able to sync since Wednesday May 16th @ 6:45 AM!!!!!

I've tried uninstalling the app, turning Bluetooth on and off etc.

Thanks for the update!!!!! I'm ready to take a hammer to this piece of **ahem** and go buy a decent tracker. I've had it with this frustrating crap.

Another thing I find really irritating is that every time I open the app you're trying to sell me an upgrade to Premium @ $ 12.95 per month when the watch isn't working in the first place.

Thanks a lot

Great Job Fitbit. Since the last genius firmware update, not only can I not sync to the app but now my ionic is losing time so its even useless as a watch.

Thanks again for the grief. Just can't believe you would release a firmware update without proper testing

I was experiencing the same problem so I figured I would share my experience in case it helps you. I troubleshooted according to their instructions in this forum but realized their instructions were not entirely clear. Restarting the ionic and resetting the time zone was what helped me. To restart the ionic you actually have to hold the left button and the bottom right button for a pretty long time, more than a couple of seconds, and then the logo will appear. I was not holding it in long enough. If you don't hold it in long enough it will turn off and back on, but it doesn't actually reset. You have wait until you see the logo with all the dots. Note that in their instructions they describe the "back" button, but they mean the button on the left. Once I restarted, bluetooth on my phone would recognize my watch and it would sync but the time/date were incorrect. So then I had to toggle off the "connect automatically" function for time zone in the fitbit app to get my date and time to appear correctly on my watch. To do this in the app, go to the upper left icon that looks like a person's head, scroll down to advanced settings and then you will see it at the top of the next list. Also I found out that ionic will not connect to many wifi networks, including those that require a username or open access ones where you typically have to choose "agree" to terms before it will connect. Basically that left me with being able to use my home wifi network, or open access networks that connect automatically. If you ever change your wifi router or password, or if you recharge your device after it has had a dead battery for a few days, you may need to restart the ionic over again to get it to connect to bluetooth or wifi again. It also gets finicky if you have lots of bluetooth devices (but honestly, who doesn't?) so restarting will probably need to be a regular occurrence to get it to work properly. It's not the ideal user experience, but at least it gets the watch to be functional again.

Hi

Thanks for the reply it's appreciated.

For now I have the ionic synced to my Samsung S6 tablet, so I'm still able
to at least keep track of my steps.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 on pre-order.

Once I receive it I plan to post a video on You Tube of me taking a hammer
to the piece of **ahem** Ionic.

Thanks
