So this morning I got up and everything was working fine with the watch, went downstairs to watch some TV. At some point I checked it, and the screen would not come on. It continues to be unresponsive to any button press and the screen was black (off). Resets do not work, neither the two or three button press combos even get the logo to appear. I put it on the charger all morning but still no response on the button press.
This is happened as far as I can tell not related to any use, it just died. Any troubleshooting ideas? I’ve had it 13 months so of course the warranty just expired.

The same thing happened to me yesterday! The last think I did was tap the screen to finish a workout. I went back to the clock face, then the next time I tried to check the time it was dead. It won't respond to resets or to charging. Mine is 19 months old.

I'm having a similar issue, mine is about 16mths old, it's stuck on the Fitbit logo screen, tried both 2 button and 3 button resets, let the battery run completely out then charged it for 6 hrs or so, still nothing, just stuck on the logo.

I’m at same state with my Ionic. My lengthy chats with support have not revealed any new options to resuscitate a device that doesn’t respond to the buttons. No “hard reset” switch like on other devices. If you hear anything please let me know. Despite the multitude of recent reports of brick devices, everyone seems to be getting stone walled with the warranty party line: 12 months from first purchase. Support seems to be offering 40% of replacement Ionic, less if you want to change models. I upped them to 50%, but supervisor Carlos ended my chat when I continued negotiating. I didn’t think $150 of my money was terribly fair for their error.

I’ve had it charging for about a day in the same charging port I’ve always used, but the screen shows no indication of even turning on with any combination or length of button press. Not even the Fitbit logo you get during resets- it is as if the battery is still dead or disconnected somehow.
I checked that I received no usual low battery email before it deactivated so my beat guess is that it was at least 30-50 percent charged at the time of failure.

This also happened to me (15 months old). I’ve tried everything but it is dead. My question is: can Fitbit repair these or is there anything I can do with this expensive piece of plastic?

dude if you are out of your warranty you are burned. Fitbit wont repair this issues, the only thing support team will do is check your warranty if its covered they will send you a new watch, if not they wont repair yours. and will offer you a 25% discount on a new watch. that's it, hope for the best but prepare for the worse. these are disposable watches.

unfortunately you are burned, mine did the same at 18th month and had to put it in the garbage can, since you no longer have warranty the best costumer support will give you is a 25% discount coupon on a new watch. these are disposable watches.... sorry sad reality

You are lucky to get 18 months my died at 14 months and Fitbit support told me to go down to the local dealer to buy a new tracker . What a joke I didn’t even get a discount. He promised I would get a full 12 months warranty on the new tracker ha ha ha. Don’t bother this company will be finished very soon.

I just got back from a long walk and went to sync my watch to my PC. Low and behold, my Ionic just went blank and appears to be dead. I have tried everything--I tried to reset it, charge it (via USB ports and the wall socket), used multi-button combos, and I sacrificed a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, but it appears that my 20-month old Ionic has died. I have now joined a number of other "long-term" Ionic users whose watches have mysteriously quit. I know that my watch is out of warranty, but I am not sure that I want to drop another $300 on something that is not even going to last for two years. It looks like it is back to my old (and still working) Charge 2 HR until I figure out what to do next.
I am really not happy about this!

The same thing has happened to my ionic - it was after an app update two days ago - it hasn’t worked since. My ionic is 19 months old. I have tried resetting, charging all day, tried charging via USB, nothing has worked. Surely this is not acceptable? Like everyone has said, it is a very expensive item to have to put in the bin after an app update has ‘broken’ it!?

I seam to have ”seen” it mentioned before here under topics. Others have said the same thing regarding it dying exactly after warranty runs out.
I'm new user however a ”conspiracy theorist” I suppose as well. It wouldn't be absolutely impossible writing it right into the DNA ”rom” of the watch.
Not that they would but if they wanted to they could ineffect literally drop it in and take it out one swoop whenever they do an update for your watch and none would be the wiser.....
Good luck
AJ

I am sure this is unacceptable to Fitbit. Somebody will probably get fired over there for allowing your device to last so long. At 19 months old, it is an antique in the Ionic world.
