Ionic not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So this morning I got up and everything was working fine with the watch, went downstairs to watch some TV. At some point I checked it, and the screen would not come on. It continues to be unresponsive to any button press and the screen was black (off). Resets do not work, neither the two or three button press combos even get the logo to appear. I put it on the charger all morning but still no response on the button press.

This is happened as far as I can tell not related to any use, it just died. Any troubleshooting ideas? I’ve had it 13 months so of course the warranty just expired.

We don't need another post assuring us this feedback helps, but not seeing
any evidence that Fitbit has improved its software syncing quality or that
Fitbit had any intention of helping out the customers they have wronged.

I also appear to need to remind you that there are the troubleshooting
steps you keep posting have no impact on a device that has no lights and is
unresponsive to buttons or charging.

I would have hopes at the very least FitBit would have offered to ship my
bricked Ionic to an engineer to see if they could diagnose the failure.

All of the trouble shooting steps have been attempted. I called customer
service and was offered 25% off a new product. This is not acceptable.

When the device fails due to an update by the provider, the provider needs
to make it right! This has been going on since April 2019 as far as I can
tell from the posts. Yes it may have started with other devices, but when
you have a large number of Ionic users complaining about the same issue and
presenting the same story about how the device just stopped functioning, it
should be obvious that Fitbit needs to make it right.

Fitbit should replace our devices.

I had the same thing just happened and they also only offered a 25% discount

I should have just bought an Apple Watch with the amount of money I have spent on Fitbits! This is my third one!!

Hi everyone! Thanks for taking the time to report the issues that you're having with your Fitbit Ionic. Sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate all the feedback and the time you've taken to perform the troubleshooting steps suggested along the thread. If you've already contacted our support team, I suggest to keep communication open with them. They will be glad to keep assisting you.

Thanks for the feedback, it's very important to us to have your thoughts in regards our product, warranty and customer support interaction. Fitbit is always trying to provide great products and customer experience.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @FordtoughMomma. If you're having issues with your Ionic not responding when you try to charge it, I'd suggest to clean the contacts of your Ionic; you need to this regularity with all devices. These contacts can become obstructed by microscopic dirt or debris that prevents them from making a good connection to the charger. Use a toothpick or toothbrush to clean the charging contacts; do not scrape them with anything metal because this may damage the plating and result in corrosion.

We also recommend plugging your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or other low-energy device. If necessary, you can use a UL-certified USB wall charger. Don't use a USB hub or battery pack to charge, and only use the charging cable that came with your tracker.

For more help, you can take a look of the steps on this article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device?  And as a last step, you can try a factory reset on your Ionic.

At this time, we'll be closing this thread since it has became off topic. If you've already exhausted all the troubleshooting steps and you still need assistance, please open a new thread on the Ionic board, provide as many details related to the issue in your post. We'll be assisting as soon as possible.

Thanks for your understanding.
